A colour scheme could be used within the TV guide to high-light program genres. Orange for movies, green for sports etc.

Hi ashcroft

I believe the old TV Engine that used to be built into MediaPortal did have the option of colour coding the EPG. I don't think the TV Server / Client Plugin has had this option. I assume there is a reason that this was not incorporated but I don't know what that was.

Would it be possible to implement this feature into the TV Client?

My TvGuide shows the genre information, so I assume that giving option to skin developer to use different background colors based on genre information must be doable.

    Am I right?

Could somebody possibly point me onto the right direction how this could be done or why it couldn't be done, please.

I also would appreciate this kind of feature.

As far as understand it is just a matter of the skin (i've just been throught the source files of the TVGuide for another reason).

The settings could be made in the MP Configuration in another TV Settings Tab.

It´s not a matter of the skin, it´s a matter of TVServer code - this would have to be patched to get what you want - and I fear this won´t be done in the near future ;)

skin developers saying that's a MediaPortal issue.

could you describe it closely why is that a TVServer issue ,please. If you have closer understanding how should that be done could you tell us please.

As far as I understand, TVServer is providing the TvGuide data, which already contains the genre information, on to TVClient. Couldn't the TVClient give a option such as genre id to the skin developers?

Well, I had already recognized your problem, but I still wanted to point out the basic connections once again. Unfortunately, I don't have a fundamentally different solution for you, but with this approach you should achieve your goal. ;) The idea of first setting the current genre colors with the defines is certainly a good one, as...

Update: Problem solved! The electronic program guides (tvguide.xml) have been successfully transferred to MediaPortal. The issue stemmed from the corruption of one or both of the mc2xml.dat and/or mc2xml.exe files, for an unknown reason. Consequently, even though the tvguide.xml file appeared to be updated, its content kept being an...

Hi. I was probably being a bit fast and loose with my terminology. I meant "somewhere within the files that MP2 uses in its database". Anyway, I found a way to do this which was far from automated but relatively low effort. I found what looked like all the images (CD covers, DVD covers, backgrounds etc all lumped together in...
