When i pressed the "guide" button on the remote for some reason all the channels & guide data has gone.
I had not been doing anything with MP since the morning but this afternoon after pressing the "guide" button this problem occured.

My tvguide.xml file is up to date with plenty of data for the week.
Its downloaded nightly into the correct directory as usual.

So now i tried import via MP and you can see it processes about 2000 shows and 21 channels but still nothing in the guide window.

If i press liveTV i get the attached window ( see fault.jpg) which shows a program on and what looks like some garbled data with respect to the description "-S5 E16".

Looks like the database is messed up or something.

Help !:(

    Hi,
Attach your MediaPortal.log to your post when things like this happens, maybe we can see whats causing it.

    Regards

    Hi Roy,
    see attached log.
MP has been shut shown a few times since the problem happened so this log is new.

Still have the same problem even after i go to config and "remove programs from database" then go into MP and import.

I see that its importing 21 channels and 2000 or so shows but they still dont show up in the TV guide an neither do the channels so i cant change channels.

In the seperate MP config app my channels are still in it, so its a little confusing.

    see attached log.

    regards
    Matt

This should fix your issues though you will lose any future & persistent recordings you have scheduled.
Open the setup program, go to the Channel config area and export your channels to an XML file. Close the setup program.
Then open the database folder and rename TVDatabaseV21.db3 to TVDatabaseV21.db3.org.
Re-open the setup program and import your TV channels from XML file created earlier. Close the setup program.
Start Mediaportal and the once you enter the TV section it should start importing your guide data into a brand new database. :)

    Good luck,

    Thanks Nickname for the reply.

Why would i need to do this though ?

Is this an on going problem with MP ?

If it fixes my immediate problem of not being able to watch any TV thats fine
but what stops this from happening in another day or two ?

I hope to get an answer from Roy or a developer but your fix is
    appreciated.

    thanks
    Matt

Because it sounds like your tv database is corrupt.

Is this an on going problem with MP?
Yes & no. IMHO it all depends on how much you play with MP. By this I mean trying different TV guide data sources, importing/exporting TV channels, changing TV cards, changing Time Zone compensation, XP crashing in a guide import, etc. etc.
The more playing you do, the more likely a corruption may happen.
I have a had to do this fix couple of times in a couple of years, but overall I find it pretty reliable. Considering how much I like to 'tinker', I can't complain. You have to remember that ALL databases can get a corruption but thankfully, it is easy to fix in Mediaportal! :)

    Hi Nickname,
ok i'll give it a go as this is a pretty serious problem given i cant watch anything
at all. It really should be more stable than this for soemthing as simple as watching TV. Maybe its new issue in 0.2.3.0.

I havent actually played with anything since installing a new SVN based on a another problem i had with recording.

Anyway thanks again. I'll try it and let you know.

    thanks Matt

The database should not really affect your ability to watch TV. By this I mean, if you installed MP and did not put any guide data in it, you can still watch TV. You must have some major corruption happening(?)
If you require reliability & stability, SVNs are not the way to go. Stick with 0.2.2.0. Powerscheduler does not work properly in it, but it is a good, recent release. You 'may' want to avoid 0.2.3.0 as it is Release Candidate so there will be some bugs, I know as I found a minor couple...

    Good Luck.

    Hi Nickname.

That does NOT work for me.

    Did excactly as you suggested.

When i did the import once again it said it was importing 21 channels and some 2000 shows. When it was done still no programs show up and no channels.

    regards
    Matt

Open the database using the tool SQLite Database Browser.exe (in the docs folder) and verify that the data is actually in the database.
I guess you have checked that the channel names match the guide data channel names? If they are mispelt at all, you will see no data.

Note: ABC & ABC2 transmit 36 hours of their guide data so you don't need to use a TVGuide.xml file to see data from them. Just make sure you have ticked the checkbox on the Program Guide tab in the setup program. It is labelled something like "Grab EPG from DVB - This option should" etc etc.

If that doesn't work then really all I can suggest is uninstalling MP and installing 0.2.2.0 fresh.
Note: Even after MP is uninstalled, it leaves it's folder behind which usually does not matter but if I was desperate to be sure of a clean install, I'd rename this folder to Mediaportal.bak or something before installing 0.2.2.0.

Sorry I have not been of much help but normally it isn't this hard to get working. You have a nasty issue, oops, I don't mean personally, just your MP install ;-)

    Good luck.
