Hi Nickname,
I o I o its back to 0.2.2.0 i go !

I would really like to help the guys test 0.2.3.0 but im under wife pressure !

Already rolled back to 0.2.2.0 in the last 20 mins.

Love the idea of exporting the channel list. Boy did that save some time in reconfiguring ! as i use Digital as well as Foxtel - 21 channels all up. all controlled by one remote.

Thanks 4 the advice.

regards
Matt

No worries mate. I too suffer from 'wife (& kids) pressure' so I have to be careful with my tinkering and obviously also be prepared for a quick roll-back if things go wrong ;-)
Hint: I actually run 2 separate XP installs with 2 independent MP installs as well. That way if something goes wrong whilst I'm at work, they can simply boot the other XP/MP. Also 'System Restore' can be a lifesaver as well.

Ok so i went back to using RC1.

I actually download my own tvguide.xml file and modify it in memory before
dropping it into the guide directory.
I modify it because the version i get does not contain the channel id's in the xml file.
The xml i get is from "http://minnie.tuhs.org/tivo-bin/tvguide.pl".

It returns an xml file with all the digital and Foxtel channels i have pre-selected on their website with up to 7 days data.
I download and modify this file at 1:00am every day.
I have also written a plugin that manages and shows me the success/failure of the last download / modification.
The only thing i do for MP is in the guide settings area of the config prog is to check the box to compensate the time zone with +10hrs as the guide time is in UTC time. I dont use their inbuilt grabber.

I assume this is ok with MP right ?
Id like to know when MP updates its database with info from the guide though.
Is it once a day or every time MP starts ?

Im gonna try and stick with RC1 because as a developer myself i can appreciate the guys need feedback to track bugs etc.

    regards
    Matt

MP (TV2) updates the guide whenever you enter (I think) the TV area of MP. If not, if definitley does it when you visit the EPG window. You can tell because if you press the 'info' button twice on an MCE remote (or right mouse button twice), it displays a sub menu and one of the options is to update the guide. If you select that option, it will say something like 'failure to update, already updating..." (when it finds a new guide file).

FYI. I get my guide data from IceTV and also do not use the inbuilt grabber. I use a script which gets the file, renames the channel names to what I want and then copies the updated file to other PCs on my LAN. :)

    Hey Nickname,

i have a mate who has just installed MP and he's a music buff.
What he cant seem to do is search the database for titles.

He can search for albums but not just song titles.
Does he have to do anything with a default insatll to allow this ?

    regards

    Hi Mattyd,
There is a great new plugin that enables just that. Sadly it is not integrated into the My Music screen itself but I had a brief look and it does do searching well. :)
    Have a look this: https://www.team-mediaportal.com/files/Download/Plugins/Utilities/GlobalSearch/

Your friend may also be interested in the "My Lyrics" plugin that displays the lyrics for currently playing tracks. This isn't integrated into "My Music" either but it does display the lyrics. You have to populate a database with the lyrics which can take awhile (overnight or longer depending on net connection speed and music library size?) so I'd recommend he backs up this database regularly if he is a 'tinkerer' too.

    Good luck.
