Not sure if this is a TV Series issue or StreamedMP but after loading StreamedMP and configuring a minimal TV Series installation I can't play recorded TV - MP hangs and I have to use TaskManager to End the process. Here are my logs and I hope you can point me in the right direction.

This might because of MediaInfo.dll. This is located in the same directory as mediaportal.exe.

Try getting the latest dll from: Download MediaInfo from SourceForge.net

It's possible that the version you have installed is not compatible, if you are still having issues try get your hands on a few different older versions (dont go to far back).

I found the Mediainfo.dll in the mediaportal.exe folder as you stated. It was 7.31 and it must have been installed along with my MP 1.1.0.0 RC4 upgrade, or the StreamedMP 1.1.0.1303 I just installed. In either case I think what this thread is addressing is not my case - I can perform import and get filenames into the TV-Series database without crashing either the configuration or the MP application when loading.

My issue seems to be based on when I try to play a recorded-TV show. If called from My-TV (not from TV-Series) the final entry in my mediaportal.log is always:
    TvRecorded Play:T:\AverMedia\Tuner_1\60 Minutes - 2010-05-23.ts - using rtsp mode:False
I can't say I've payed much attention to the normal log entry by comparison. I have to DISABLE TV-Series to regain playback ability. The same happens when I attempt to play a show from TV-Series - picking the show is followed by MP locking up!

Could the TV-series database be conflicting with the MP database... maybe my 'test' is causing this... I'd copied a few shows over into a fresh folder and pointed TV-Series to that folder. The same shows exist on their original drives/folders that the MP database would be pointing to. Not sure if these dtatbases 'talk' to one another or not...

I've been seeing fanart and descriptions about the shows TV-Series is databasing and when I had only 2 or 3 shows they would play. Let me ask about TV-Series:
    1) is it independent of the MP database and what MyTV keeps track of?
    2) if I delete a show from MyTV what does TV-Series do with that show being gone?
    3) can I delete a show from TV-Series and what does MyTV do in its database?
    4) can two copies of a show exist in separate locations or will this cause trouble in the database?
    5) what if I have my shows on different drives/folders, will TV Series recognize them transparently and merge them into the same SERIES or do they all have to reside within the same folder? (I assign separate drives for each tuner)
    6) does TV Series rebuild its database on some schedule and what if I delete it (from the option on the Details tab), how will it rebuild itself?
    7) is there any maintanence that needs to be done, or how robust is the database?
    8) does TV-Series interrogate only the filename or does it read the media file for metadata to substantiate or override what it parsed from the filename -- could I generate a bunch of (empty) text files to understand the parser, or would it not work without valid media in them?
    9) MP places a .xml file beside each program it records to keep up with pertanent data - does TV Series give a rip about these .xml files and will it delete them (assuming you can delete a watched show from inside TV Series).

I'm asking because I haven't found much about HOW it works so I'm a bit lost at understanding what I need to do to get it working correctly and keeping it working/maintained.

Thanks for reading... I'm a newbie on this plug-in eventhough I've been using MP for years!

Andrew H, I had EXACTLY the same problem as you:

    1) Playing recorded TV completely crashes MP
    2) Playing any movide completely crashes MP

I have moving pictures and TV Series plugins installed and if I disable tv series everything returns to normal.

I tried updating all versions of mediainfo.dll to 7.33 - latest - no joy. I then downloaded the version 7.27 from here:

    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...ports-mediaportal-1-1-0-rc3-82249/index3.html

    and this cured the problem.

    Hope this helps,
    Crom

Arghhh.... lost my first attempt at this reply :-0

OK, again... I think the issue with TV-Series I'd described above was more based on a corrupt TV-Series database than it was anything else. I had some success creating a small folder of titles and manually adding them into the TV-Series database. Also I had to uncheck the box to rescan at 5 minute intervals. Using this I could open/play several of the files I'd populated the folder with. I saw 'several' because I then found a few I could not playback. Also of note is I was running RC3 at the point I began posting on this thread. Apparently on RC4 when... read the next paragraph... SO, when you disabled TV-Series as a plug-in you simply chose to avoid interference from TV-Series without really addressing the issue - not a bad first step if you (as I) like the appearance of the StreamedMP skin!

Onto the issue of mediainfo.dll and which version works... over on Mediainfo.dll broken (for me) above ver 0.7.30 we determined the later versions have broken the playback of several of the files created on our systems. As for myself in the US it's ATSC-based and we've not identified any correlation between channel, broadcaster, tuner, subchannel, etc. We have substituted various versions into the MP folder and found (in my case) that any version newer than 0.7.30 causes MediaPortal to play the file as a Radio file - audio only, no video. This is new for RC4 as the developers changed the code such that if no video info is returned it's assumed to be a Radio file! This keeps MP from crashing when Mediainfo.dll is broken for a specific file but it really means that MediaPortal is broken if an entire base of users are affected by this!

It would be helpful if you'd populate your My System (in user CP) so we can see your components and tuner format). Take a look at the thread I posted, get a copy of 0.7.30 and see if you'd agree it's as good as 0.7.27 you'd grabbed from that other thread and post your results NOT HERE, but on the other thread... and Thanks for chiming in with your findings!
