Well - tested again.

1 - First installed DVBviewer - everything worked fina, both fta and encrypted channels
2 - reinstalled and checked latest Driver (1.00.05.601) , and TV server for OK card recogition - Tried to search for channels - no channels found
3 - Checked again with DVBViewer - all ok

4 - Found and installed a new beta driver from Terratec - 1.00.07.601

5 - Scanning worked in MP!!!!!! :D
6 - Checked logs - Ci correctly detected as a Twinham Ci as in MP version 1.1.2

So in my experience the latest stable driver 1.00.05.601 works only with 1.1.2
and the new beta driver 1.00.07.601 works only in 1.2.0b

:D:D:D

Thanks all for help and suggestions - blush  - And yes I feel stupid for not trying a new driver before posting...

Posting the logs just for reference and in case they are of use to the dev. team

    Hi ogir_xx

No problem - I'm glad to hear the H7 is working again. :)
I suspect reinstalling the existing drivers may have also worked, but if you are happy with the beta drivers then probably best to stick with something that works.

    Setting to "no bug"...

Driver 1.00.07.601 works with MP 1.2 Beta but not with 1.1.3

    Hi again everyone

I've looked at your logs here again and there's something that I spotted that I would like to investigate. I know this is a pain, but would anyone be able to test the 1.00.07.601 drivers with 1.1.3 and provide logs?

    Big thanks to aj1405! :D:D:D

Okay, I can see why the 1.00.05.601 driver doesn't work in 1.2.0b. I made a change between 1.2.0a and 1.2.0b to improve compatibility with certain tuners, in particular tuners based on the Afatech AF9015 chipset (there are *lots* of them).

The technical explanation: it seems that the H7 implements the BDA receiver (capture) filter interface with its tuner filter in the 1.00.05.601 version of the driver, but that it still requires a separate receiver (capture) filter for the graph to function. From MP 1.2.0b onwards, we look at whether the tuner filter implements that particular interface to determine whether we should look for a capture filter or not. Since the 1.00.05.601 driver implements it, we don't bother trying to connect a capture filter, and the result is that the inf tee can't be connected and graph building fails.
In the 1.00.07.601 beta driver, the interface is *not* implemented by the tuner filter, which means that TV Server correctly searches for a capture filter -> H7 works.

As for the functioning of 1.00.07.601 beta with MP 1.1.3: I can't see anything on the TV Server side in the logs that would indicate that the H7 isn't actually working. On the MP side though, TsReader shows this error:

    Code:
    05-05-2011 12:35:41.095 [15d8]Pes 0-0-1 fail

I don't know exactly what that means since I don't know so much about the MP client or TS reader.

I will raise this issue with the rest of the team and see what they say...

    Hi mylle

That was my first thought too, but I would have thought that audio/video detection would have failed in TV Server (TsWriter) if that were the case. Further, the Twinhan CI/CAM code (which also handles Terratec hardware) hasn't changed significantly since January 2010 or earlier. I now think changes in TsReader have fixed/changed the "behaviour" for 1.2.0a and/or 1.2.0b. Perhaps the TsWriter in 1.1.3 was more lenient than the TsReader in waiting for the CAM to start doing its job? In any case, 1.1.3 is "in the wild" now, which means we can't really make it compatible with 1.00.07.601 beta. We can make 1.2.0rc+ backward compatble with 1.00.05.601... though it wouldn't be nice in the code.

    Hi ogir_xx

Yes, aj1405 has supplied perfect logs for me (@aj1405: thanks again!)...

I raised this problem with the team. At this stage we are going to keep things as they are since we think the benefit of the patch (better compatibility for a large number of other tuners) outweighs the negative of H7 users having to do a driver update. That means that for MediaPortal versions less than or equal to 1.2.0a it is strongly recommended to use the 1.00.05.601 driver, and for versions greater than or equal to 1.2.0b it is recommended to use the 1.00.07.601 driver. Of course we are keeping an open mind and will be keeping close watch on H7 issues in the forum...
