Hi all!

I'm trying to get a set up of MP tv-server on a WHS and a client to work, however I've run in to some problems...

I installed the tv-server on the WHS, change name on the config files, found my dvb card and all of my channels.

I specified the IP-address in the server configuration instead of choosing "auto". But, when I try to connect via my client computer I get a message that Port 31456 TCP, 1433 TCP and 1434 UDP are blocked.

I tried to shut down the windows firewall but that did not help, anyone been here and have any idea?

Best Regards,

did you turn off the firewall at client and server?
you can check if the ports are used by another programm with the command netstat (google for usage)

Ok, thank you for your response!

I used netstat, and on the client computer the concerned port that appeared was 554 ( 0.0.0.0:554) used by wmpnetwk.exe "Listening".

On the server computer the following ports appeared: 1433 (0.0.0.0:1433) used by sqlservr.exe "Listening". 31456 (0.0.0.0:31456) used by TVService.exe "Listening". 554 (192.168.0.16:554) used by TVService.exe "Listening".

    *edit*
    - Yes I tried turning off both firewalls.

    1) wmpnetwk.exe sound like Windows Mediaplayer, who may block the port

    alternatives

    2) Do you have a router inbetween which may block the ports?
    2) Maybe you prohibit the progs directly in the firewall settings

    Cheers,

Port 554 is the port used by WMP for streaming service, and port 1433 is used by MS SQL for TCP client connections.
You need to change the ports used by MP, but I don't know how you do that.

Can't I change the 554 port in the tv-server config? I'll try that first.

yhoogi: Yes I have a router between.

Nope port change did not help.

Joit: Yes I changed the 554 port and restarted, but I still get the same message about port 31456, 1433 and 1434. Not sure how to go on from here...:

    Got it! :)

I had to change the ip number to server name in the config file.

Now I just have to find a way to make the scrambled channels work.
