Tv-Service always stops working after 10 min (1 Viewer)

New 10min test-finished with both plugins enabled but No Go....
Next test will be the Preview-part of TV-server config.

I´ll return with the answer..


Edit 1:
When I choose Preview I only see the first frame and then it freezes...
Can still here the sound thoug but it stopped after 10mins as usual..

Trying to start timeshifting manual and recording from a channel now just too se if I can get more then 10 min from that.


Edit 2:
Did the recording and I got a perfect file that was exactly 10min and 6 sec long.
Tried to record at aprox 15min or longer....

Have you managed to fix this issue?
I have a Pinnacle Hybrid Pro Stick 340e and I'm facing with the same problem.
After 10 mins of watching TV, the picture just stops.

I've tried to figure out what could cause it, but no luck so far.
I use analog cable as an input, without any plugin enabled on the TV server side. The encoder is intervideo (WinDVR3).

The preview works fine for me, but I haven't tried to use it for more than a few secs.

I also tried to start timeshifting manually from the server configuration (without watching it), and after 10 mins it does the same thing. I can't see the picture, but I can tell it by the CPU load.
During the timeshifting CPU load is ~50-65% and after 10 mins it just drops back to the normal ~5%.

Any ideas?

hello,
i'm not sure if the preview system will force the timeshift start too.

this is going to be a bit odd but...

perhaps it's not acutally ten minutes, perhaps it's the size of the timeshift file that's hitting the limit.
can you move the timeshift file to a different drive?

also, try diabling your antivirus to see if that makes any difference.

Same problem here. The TV server will lock up Vista after 10 minutes. Now its working fine for me.

I switched from my on-board 1Gb NIC to an 100Mb PCI network card. The 1Gb NIC was a Realtek RTL8168/8111. After that I had disabled Wake-on-Lan and removed a network monitoring tool that came with my wireless USB.

Hi DaneeL.

No I haven´t fixed the issue yet, and I have more or less given up on fixing it too.
I´we tried everything I can come up with and my hope seems to be for the creators to hard-study my logs or something.
Now I´we made a complete reinstall of Win XP and MP but skipped the TV-server since it never worked for me anyways...
But if you fix it you are more then welcome to write the sollution in this thread.

I´d love if the sollution where that easy, but sadly not.
I´we tried everything from 30 to 500 mb big Timeshifting-files, and on different drives to, but no luck.

Thanks for the suggestions!

It looks like preview starts timeshift too.
I've tried to change the timeshift settings, but no luck.
I noticed that no matter what I set in the settings, MP only creates 3 ts files for timeshift and stops around 10mins after start.
I tried to set the location of th ts files to different drive - no change.
As for the antivirus - I don't have any installed

I also noticed that when I start timeshift for the first time it created files with 250Mb is size, even when there is a different number in the config file. From the second time onword it creates files with the correct size....strange.

I think I'll try to reinstall Windows tomorrow too....

Just to make sure, when your 10mins has passed and TV is down, if you restart the Service "TvService" then you have 10mins of TV again?
If so then it seems like we have the exact same behavior. Keep me updated if you get any progress!

Hi there i had this same problem and was really pissing off the wife.
After trying all sorts of things including the things you have i seem to have found a solution for my problem.
I set the server up on a different pc wich before was just a file nserver for my music and movies.

Might all this boil down to the recording\timeshifting folder chosen, despite reinstalling OS and MP every couple of months, never had this problem or other team members have reported this issue, never use a user account always admin, but then this software is designed for a htpc
