Hi,

When I try to watch TV via mediaportal, it playsback all skippy and jumpy every couple seconds and the audio is distored. I dont really know where to start on solving the problem. The EPG works ok and video playback is fine everywhere else, even 720p over lan.

Im thinking it maybe a driver issue with the tv card but im not sure where/how to start working out to fix that

Thanks for your time

T500 driver version should be 4.3.25080.0, same as mine, check in device manager.

If using TVServer you need to be on at least svn 19069, as this fixes standby issues, when 2 recordings overlap so both cards are in use, they do not decompose correctly prior to standby.

The only time i have had stuttering on xp, was when i did not have the amd dual core optimizer installed.

If you have not downloaded and installed it, you have not got it.

    MediaPortal and TV-Server 1.0 RC1 svn-builds - MediaPortal Forum

Top one is latest, uninstall tvserver\client first saying no to removing settings, then install mediaportal svn (double click, create backup if you want), when that has finished, install the new TVServer + client (password MediaPortal), restart service as requested.

    Hi,

I have followed your instructions and now some channels are playing fine, while others are still as before!

Any further support would be appreciated.

Ps, just out of interest, what TV card (PCI) should i buy that will just work flawlessly with mediaportal?

Think we need to sort out why yours not working correctly (mine is), so there is something causing the issues you have.

Could be running 2 x T500, try removing 1 as a last resort (sql database would need to be deleted for this).

Recording\timeshifting is done to different folders on my HDD, have folder C:\TVrecordings, within that folder have timeshifting folder, so C:\TVRecordings\Timeshifting.
There have been reported problems doing timeshifting\recording to exactly same folder, so try above (does not matter if its setup on another internal hdd drive).

If you tune into a good channel, press info button twice and select TVtuning details what does it say regarding TV signal strenght\quality, then try this with the channels that give issues, aerial problems can also cause this.

    Hi,

Thanks for the tips will have another play shortly (only just woke up lol)

Just noticed your in Cheshire, im in lil old nantwich, woo!

    Thanks again for your help!

    Right, getting somewhere now!!

I looked at the signal strength, and on the channel it worked on strength was 40-60 and quality was 90-100

On the channel that didnt work (ITV2) it was around 30-50 strength and 30-40 quality

I looked at my RF cable and there was a tiny tiny split (freeview on TV works mint though) so i swapped this out and ITV2 quality went to around 50-60

This now only leaves me with these 3 issues-

Video glitches/artifacts slightly every now and again, I assume this is the low signal quality and could be fixed with some kind of booster box?
No epg data is displayed what so ever, not to sure how I fix this
BBC 1 and BBC 2 are not picked up during the channel scan

Thanks again for your help paranoid, very much appreciated!
