I had the same problem. It always happens when the TS-file changes.
I hope this will be solved as soon as 1.0.1 is ready:
- 0001862: [TvServer] Change timeshift file handling to have only 1 file per user session which is preallocated (gemx) - assigned.

    Hi!

    I have the issue where the file rotates my h264 channels often starts to go into an unrecoverable stutterfest.
    Only fixed by restarting the channel.

    It doesnt happen on mpeg2 std. def. channels.
    So I guess it's a buffer starvation problem.

    using gigabit lan
    all PC's in household are XP based.

    Things that might be worth trying are;

    * try vista, heard it has better SMB implementation.
    * try jumbo frames 9k, u need a switch that is capable of this. also all NIC's in ur LAN needs this option.
    * look for SMB / TCP tweaks for XP on google and try them out...backup ur reg db first.
    * hack the tvdb SQL, use a really large timeshift buffer file size. setupTV only allows for 1 gig max ..dunno why btw.
    ex.
    Ask the Performance Team : Windows Explorer and SMB Traffic

    (Im trying the jumbo frames 9k thingie 2nite...)

    I'd like to hear your findings :)

    plz state ur OS, LAN config/speed, what channels stutter etc.

    One thing you all should try is to map the server shares as local drives. Many network environments have delay when the file handle is opened, maybe that could help with the issue...

    Also check from task manager what the network usage shows when the timeshifting buffer is changed. If its shows drop in bandwith you are most likely having some network related issue.

    ...and please remember that this is not officially supported feature :)

    I've also this problem with SD channels - but only with SMB. In RTSP it is working fine so i don't think that it is network related and i've now doublechecked it for me it ALWAYS happens, when a new timeshiftfile starts. At the moment i've 50MB Timeshiftfiles, cause with RTSP big timeshiftfiles was causing stuttering :-(

    Regarding the other points:
    1.) I'm using Vista as Server and Client
    2.) i don't think that jumbo frames will help. With jumboframes you can transfer more information in one TCP frame but i don't need more information i need informations at all trafic goes to 0 mbit/s
    3.) i'm using Vista :)
    4.) mhm not shure if this helps cause big files seem to cause other troubles... :-(

    I'm already using local mapped drives.

    I don't think that it is a network problem - RTSP is working fine for me except for HDTV and Comskip.

    Oh i forgot - also recorded movies via SMB are working fine - only live TV is causing this problem.

    Remember that RTSP is not dealing with files, so it still could be network related issue (i.e. creating a new file handle and opening it takes too long).

    I use Vista 64-bit as server, and Vista 32-bit clients; i have had some stutters in the beginning, but now it's solved by turning off autotuning and such.. (just plain IPv4, fileshare, client for m$$..)

    Also turned off SMB2 (wich is included in Vista); and i didn't notice any performance decrease when turned off.

    How to Disable SMB 2.0 on Windows Vista/2008

    Overall, using NO rtsp works superb! i don't want to use RTSP anymore.. this is super fast / skipping comercials, and very very stable for me. >> using 2x DVBS2 and 1x DVBT; 4 clients

    Hope this helps,...
