Hi,

I have created a TvServer plugin for MCE2005 so that you can use Xbox360 against the TvServer.

I have setup a tempory website here:
http://90.184.7.232/

Enjoy

I have just Test it in vista and does not work..

I have been able to install the service with "installutil" but the .mcl file is not compatible with vista..

Any chance that you are going to make this for vista??

Thank you very much!

This is a good idea for TVServer :)

Vista MCE

Hi Iosu,

Well, I havent tried it on Vista but I dont think it will work. They have changed the way, that they stream video to the XBOX360.

In the plugin I have created a custom provider, that points to a directx filter that handles the rtsp stream from the tvserver.

The service installs a small webserver on port 8000.

You can try to register the HTML Application manualy in Vista MCE the url is : http://localhost:8000/mytvclient.htm

Call this to see if is up.
http://localhost:8000/list

Change channel :
http://localhost:8000/change?id=<<channelid>>

If it timeshifts successfully then try and open the URL in WMP. Replace rtsp with uffe to activate the right directxfilter.

I still run XP SP2 and here its working

Cheers
Uffe.

Hi

THanks for your answer

I don't have an Xbox360 so that's not the problem.

I just want to be able to see and control TVserver from Vista MCE.

I have been able to register the service and is running.

From outside MCE when I run on iexplorer
http://localhost:8000/ I get " <result>Unable to handle request /</result> "

with:
http://localhost:8000/change?id=110

- <result>
<status>OK - timeshifting succeeded</status>
<url>rtsp://SALA/stream1.0</url>
</result>

I'm able to open "rtsp://SALA/stream1.0 " but when I try to open uffe://SALA/stream1.0 I get "unable to play this file.. only http and rtsp".

I have also run "register.cmd"

if I run :
D:\Program Files\heerfordt\MCETvServerClient\site>d:\WINDOWS\ehome\ehshell.exe /
url:http://localhost:8000/mytvclient.htm

I get a blue screen and internet security inside vista mce say "this page is not secure"..

so no change to make it work under vista mce???

Thanks!

Vista MCE

Hi

I will try it later on Vista Ultimate.

Do it fail when you try to register the filter ?.

-> Try and make localhost:8000 a trusted site in Internet Explorer then you avoid the security warning.

Hi iosub,

I just test the filter under Vista Ultimate and it was working:) so at least the application will work in your MCE.

Create Windows Registry File with the following entries and run it. Then you should be able to view the stream in WMP and in the HTML application.
-->>
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\uffe]
@="URL:RTSP Protocol"
"Source Filter"="{DF5ACC0A-5612-44BA-963B-C757298F4031}"
"URL Protocol"=""

----<<

Cheers

Ok, so perhaps a solution, but not the "right" solution. On the client, within media portal configuration, under TV settings, advanced options, I switched to UNC paths instead of the default RSS, and it's working very well. Sure I had to figure out the paths, but no big deal. Maybe helpful for someone in the future. Thanks for the...
