What about the new upcoming Windows 8 release that supports ARM CPU's - Would it be possible to even compile MePo for ARM-based units?

They are very low power & small - Perfect for integrated or slim boards like pandaboard/IGEPv2/Beagleboard or Even Plugcomputer 3.0.

Many Tablet is also based on ARM CPU's.

As far as I know, windows 8 will take care about the support for the cpu/platform.
There is nothing the software developer has to do to support it (I can be wrong though). If that platform has enought power has to be tested......

It is yet unclear if Microsoft is porting the .NET Framework and DirectShow to Windows 8 on ARM.

calm down, we are working on a first ALPHA version, so BETA is out of scope now

anyway, we are making a nice progress for ALPHA so stay tuned

I just added a point "add functionality for removable media playback" because we cannot offer an alpha version without CD/DVD playback. I'm already working on that point.

From coding side there is only the EVR presenter WiP by me.

This means we also should take care a bit more on topics "Installer" and "SplashScreen". chefkoch: can you please comment about the current progress? Do you need more information/support/tester?

Any new ideas about a better splashscreen?

Chefkoch told me that he isn't able to do much because he's going to africa for some time. He has prepared a state of the installer which should work. There are two branches - one with the Dokan library integrated and one where Dokan's installer is called from our installer, IIRC.
I want to try the installer soon and I'll see what is still to be done.
