If it works on Windows 7 (in my situation) it should work with every windows version imo.

That's very optimistic. Unfortunately things don't always work that way in the real world.

Did you consider publishing the source code so that people could contribute?

Can't we implement such a feature ourselves? So we don't have to rely on external programs. For example, chrome and kodi keep the sound alive all the time.

PM => email if the user enabled it. For example I disabled it.

I had the same Problem, cut GUI sounds over HDMI bitstream, on Windows 8 and 10 (no Problem with win7). see this

The solution was the AVR Audio guard in my case too.

Edit: I did not realize till now thar AVRGuard can cause significant CPU load (30-70% on my rig). I switched to SoundSwitch_v2 at the moment, works fine til now with CPU-loa of 0,5%
