does version 0.3.1.0 work in combination with Mediaportal 1.0.1?

@chemelli: Why is this great plugin not part of MP itself? This is realy a candidate for 1.0.2 in my humble opinion. :)

Yeah I agree, but not all Team Member do :p

To my mind this plugin is also a must have and works like a charm for me! :D

...t o be honest, I do not understand the intention of the plugin, because:
Usually I have set "streched" as default view mode. If a show is broadcast in 16:9 the 16:9 is shown otherwise my 4:3 is streched to 16:9.
With the "non-linear stretch" my 4:3 picture is zoomed to 16:9 quite clean...

where is the advantage of using this plug-in?
I thought, because this threat started 2 years ago, this would be obsolete?

    cheers

The reason behind this is to get the best visual aspect ratio, set on the actual video parameters.

Stretch\non-linear zoom all have side effects, seen mainly if you view something that should be round, goes distinctly oval, thats why 14:9 mode looks way better for 4:3 viewing than any other setting, letterbox detection also works a treat, do you ever get video with a black border all the way around (16:9), we do with BBC\Five channels, TV's automatically stretch these, generally pc's do not, whichever codec you use.

Plus a lot of my video's I use non-linear stretch for, ok if that is set under MP config as the default, when I play a 1280x720HD movie, it will stretch it, so again anything round goes oval, same would apply to 1080 material.

This plugin just gives you the chance to setup individual profiles for each aspect ratio according to the video input, once setup, this is all done automatically for the video you are viewing, no more manually changing, this is another thing that raises the WAF factor :)

there are some people who are not disturbed by false aspect ratio, they do not even recognize it untill I say it to them. I myself cannot bear ovals insted of circles. Or flat-pressed Formula 1 cars circling :) So if someone does not care about this distortion and does not watch letterboxed 4:3 broadcasts can leave this plugin alone. 4:3->16:9 nonlinear stretch is a very nice thing to have: only peripheral areas are distorted (also prevents burn-in on the edges of my plasma!).

This plugin only automates the switching process between:
    - 4:3->16:9 nonlinear stretch for real 4:3 stuff
    - 4:3-> 16:9 zoom for letterboxed 4:3 (pseudo-16:9), cropping black bars without stretch
    - 16:9 left as 16:9 (no zoom or stretch)

and this have really a high wife-acceptance-factor in my case
