Press the "!" key while playing TV toggles a display. I dont know what ity all means (can anybody let me know, because it may helpme track the problems) but frame rate and jitter/snc etc are fairly obvious.

    Explained in the wiki faq.

    Anyone using AMD CPU

Filling in System specs under usercp would stop me asking this.

If you are useing a AMD X2 processor, either install the amd optimizer or RMClock, both seem to overcome the coolnquiet stuttering that i had with Vista.

Whether RMClock has any effect on other AMD cpu's unknown, but this has been consistant on every install of Vista i have done.

Whether Intel handle this any better again, unknown.

I tried the osd messages. I don't knew that.
With Evr and Aero on I've a 40 jitter value. no tearing but stuttering. Without Aero i got tearing and no stuttering  also In my previous test whit new evr.dll from Vista service pack Release candidate I've not tearing at all also without Aero but only if refresh rate is close to fps. for example 25 fps on 50 or 75 Hz.
with Vrm9 exclusive mode jitter very low values of 1,2 or 3 max on 75Hz. lcd and 50 Hz plasma both.
vmr9 exclusive mode is very close to be perfect.
in evr mode osd display report "vrm9". is it correct or a bug?

Does it make any difference if CNQ is disabled in the bios, worth a try.

Couldnt find CNQ in the bios. I have an abit Motherboard, with guru, so maybe it doesnt support it.

    BUT
    :)

I updated the GEFORCE driver, and EVR seems to work. (ish)

The jitter looks better, but is still reporterd arround 30-40
The frame rate is round 25 and most important - no dropped frames.

    :Dto all

Unfortunately it leaves a new problem. On channel change I get major jitter and freezing, solved by pausing for a few seconds. Looks like not enough buffer was built up. The problem didnt show itself before beause the slow frame rate built its own buffer. If anybody has instant solution, let me know, otherwise I will do a search/open a new thread.

FF/REW still have picture frozen, so it is difficult to find where you have got . Has that been fixed in an SVN? or is it still an outstanding problem?

i cannot reiterate this often enough (though i didn't have time to read the whole conversation):

the jitter value when using EVR has _nothing_ to do with real jitter. it displays a completely different value at the moment. seems like i will have to fix this rather sooner than later, so people don't get confused by high jitter values.

I've got tearing on an AMD X2 6400+ with C&Q enabled using Windows Vista. I also get tearing in MediaPlayerClassic Home Cinema edition with EVR enabled. I enabled vsync but that didn't help. How do I know if I have Aero enabled? How does one disable Aero?

I'll try later with C&Q disabled to see if that improves anything...

... waiting for next service pack for Vista. I tried the Release Candidate and EVR was updated. It work fine also
without Aero active but only if played fps was closed to refresh rate of monitor. With an MKV/AVC1/24FPS and 60HZ refresh rate work so bad. Now unistall SP and come back to previous Vista.
tyr Vrm9 in exclusive mode. it work very well.
For Aero test if you press the Windows Key (between ctrl and alt keys) and Tab key you should have the process navigation in 3D mode. if Aero is not active. To active it go to control panel and video related section , under theme you should find "Windows vista Basic" theme. Change to Windows Aero one.

I tried disabling AMD C&Q in the bios, which seems to have reduced tearing but the tearing is still there. I also tried installing AMD's Dual-Core Optimizer but the process does not seem to be running at all.

    Next I'll be trying RMClock...
