    Hello,

my MP installation sporadically looses possibility to control volume. MP registers volume up / down and mute buttons (click sound), but doesn't react. I took a look in the logs and there is an exception while getting instance of VolumeHandler. After MP restart it works again.

Today morning I was able to reproduce the problem:
    1) restart MP
    2) play dvd from beginning
    3) stop dvd
    4) force MP to go to standby
    5) wake up MP
    6) play dvd from beginning -> volume control doesn't work anymore.

Could anybody confirm the problem (and possibly add it to mantis) ?
    :D

What do you have set as your audio device for DVD playback?

Try to reproduce using attached Core.dll (keep a backup of your original Core.dll) and post logs.

I'll test this core also because I have the same issues as Lordie. Sometimes volume control fails from within MP. (only MP 1.1.0 RC2)

I guess you are using the minidisplay plugin.

I think your issue is caused from opening a dialog menu since the volumehandler is disposed when this is done (a nasty workaround trying to fix another bug). It would be nice if you can test this.

    1. Restart MP.
    2. Go to my videos.
    3. Open context menu on some item (F9)
    4. Check if volume can be adjusted.

For testing you can also try disabling the minidisplay plugin. Probably this will "fix" the issue.

If my guesses are correct, this bug is solved for RC3, since the code change I suspect is causing the issue has been reverted:
0002813: Slow dialog menus after volume adjust - MediaPortal Bugtracker

But please report your findings for the above test both with and without minidisplay plugin enabled.

This core only provides additional logging, it does not attempt to solve the issue. But your logs are welcome. ;)

Good to know, I'll be out for a short weekend trip but the system will be in use by the neighbours. We'll see if it happens again and why. I cannot reproduce it the way with playing dvd etc ...

One thing, when this volume problmes occurs I can hear the skin beeps from the remote but the onscreen volume pictogram is not displayed when playing fullscreen video. (no matter what source).

    Hello,

I reproduced the problem with the provided Core.dll. Please find logs as attachment (MediaPortalLogs_22_04_10.1.zip).
Additionally I made the tests according Seidelin. At first without going to standby (MediaPortalLogs_22_04_10.2.zip), here everything worked fine. Then the same test when going to stand by and then waking up (MediaPortalLogs_22_04_10.3.zip), here the same problem as described above. So it seems really that problem is caused by opening dialog after waking MP from standby. I had no time to try to disable Minidisplay plugin, I will do this today evening...
