My idea to create an watchdogservice for TVE. It could comminicate the wachdog.exe and could collect/zip the logs locally and send to the watchdog client.
Remote control for tvservice is not planed only add an application for user to collect the local and remote log as easy as we can.

    1. Extract the WatchDog_client.zip on the client to the "c:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\"
    2. Extract the WatchDogService.zip on the server to the "c:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\"
    3. Start a command prompt (cmd) on server
    4. type: sc create WatchDogService binPath= "c:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\WatchDogService.exe"
    5. type: net start WatchDogService
    6. Start the WatchDog in the client.
    7. Select the 4. option. ;)

    V3:
    • WatchDogService can be
      • install as WatchDogService /install
      • uninstall as WatchDogService /uninstall
    • new feature: start/stop remote tvservice
    How to "install":
    1. Extract the WatchDog_client_v3.zip on the client to the "c:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\"
    2. Extract the WatchDogService_v3.zip on the server to the "c:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\"
    3. Start a command prompt (cmd) on server
    4. type: "c:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\WatchDogService.exe " /INSTALL"
    5. type: net start WatchDogService
    6. Start the WatchDog on the client.
    7. Enjoy. ;)

Hey @regeszter : you made this change only on master, why not our branch ?
we have already this action pre-made. but maybe it's only for test this feature only.

My idea is to add 1 checkbox under the last choice.

Also rename the Zip File :with "Remote TVE"
    Mediaportal_R-TVE_Logs_date.zip

Also, can have the service working on MP-client + TVE local, because few users can have local TVE as "multi-seat" for bedroom, or childroom ?

I will merge the two branches.

My idea is to add 1 checkbox under the last choice.

That is same as if you select the 3. and the 4.

You can use this service in single-seat too.

Can this Service watch MP (Client) and if it Crash - Export Logs and Restart the MP Client without any User needed Action?
Sometimes Kids (Teens) are watching TV, MP Hangs and noone is there to use the Taskmgr to close MP and Restart it. Also with the Option "Keep MP always on Top" is it not easy to see what happens to MP client...
