yes, there it is. on the right side i mean. there is sth like refresh epg while idle or sth. in that way.

in standard-config it is activated with xxx minutes. and you can control if it is this problem when you connect with a client, disconnect, wait xxx minutes and then reconnect. when it doesnt work then, you found it. and sure, you have to test it with connecting 1 minute earlier. i hope you understand ^^

cant make a screenshot, girlfriend is watching ;) so try it or make a screenshot, so i can explain it in a better way

Hammermensch: Man - you might have HIT THE JACKPOT THERE!
I disabled the "EPG grabbing while idle" in TV Server Configuration > General Settings.
Restarted the server yesterday and connected a few times. It was all good, but the best part is:
First thing in the morning - some 8 hours later, the reconnect worked without any problems.
I am so thrilled! None of this codec-, reinstall-, database clean- or hardware-voodoo!
Just a simple function going wrong!

I'm trying not to be too enthusiastic about that, and will report at the end of the day or tomorrow again, to confirm.
But for now: THANK YOU SO MUCH for your help!

Lack of log files? Debug level logs from client and server would probably help in fixing this issue. Many of us have this setting enabled and have no problem at all. Does this happen every time? Just when EPG is grabbing? Does it only happen on single-tuner systems, or multiple tuners? I think the developers need very good reproducibility information rather than complaints (no disrespect intended) that this has not already been fixed.

If we had a core of 5 users who see the problem, and are willing to test and provide logs, then I suspect there is a higher chance of this being fix. There has been some discussion on the internal team forum section, so the motivation to fix this is definitely there.

I am happy to help collate reports and system specifications if people who see this problem wish to contact me by private message.

However, bear in mind that many of the times that a client cannot get TV from a server it is due to configuration errors, network errors, or user errors! This makes debugging the real problem quite hard.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

    Hi,

Log files for server and client during crash? If you can reproduce this problem every time, would you be prepared to work a little with the team to help get it fixed?

I'm not a developer so I can't promise anything, but the team are aware of the problem and would like to fix it. It just is not very easy to reproduce, so not very easy to fix.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

    Hi eliottmc,
I don't know if you meant me and my problem, and my logfiles and input.
But as I stated before - I'd absolutely be willing to help with whatever is needed to debug that issue.
I think I'm able to reproduce the problem and just need to know what infos you need, where to find them and how to distribute files/logs.

    Best,
    Adi
