HI I am wondering if I can do this in my setup I have.

IIS on WHS V1 installed on Server 1
TV Server installed on Server 2
    MP CLient on PC 3.

From what I have read so far in the forums, I can copy all the files (databases and Thumbs) on the TV Server- Server2 to give me access to all my media files if I install WebMediaPortal on the TV Server, but I am wondering If I can install WebMediaPortal on Server 1 which has the IIS running to access the TVServer on Server 1.

Reason for this is the IIS Server I have is configured to run other web sites on the internet and would prefer to use one web server instead of trying to setup reverse proxying, etc when I want to connect to MP from outside my network.

    CHeers,
    Sean

It should be possible, by installing only the MPExtended Service on server2 and installing WebMediaPortal on server1. You should configure WebMediaPortal to connect to the second service then (settings > service URLs > enter auto://<server2ip>:4322/).

However, I'm not sure this actually works. I've gotten a few bugreports about it and haven't had the time to fix them yet.

OK finally got the website to run, but 2 things.
    1. no pretty format, just basic html looking web page
    2. when clicking on home button, there are not much there - Home, settings and welcome.... I can click on settings and apply service urls, etc, but can't explore my MP setup....

Have you tried to point the TAS URL to auto://<TVServer IP>:4322/ in the settings?

Anyway, can't say much without your webmp.log.

I have set the URL's as suggested - did that before I posted here.

Where do I find the log files for the webPortal?

Attached is a screen shot of what I am seeing to help try explain the problem....

Strange, not even your CSS files seem to load. Which webserver (IIS version) do you use?

WebMP log files are in C:\ProgramData\MPExtended.

OK, some good news, I have got some of it to work...
I created a new website in IIS and assigned port 81 to it, as my default website has port 80 already. I pointed the website to the install folder c:\program files\...\www and ensured asp.net was set to 4.03xxxx

This got me all the pretty css graphics.

The next thing was I had setup authentication on MPExtender, but my URL strings is WebMP would not save the url with the passwords in the string. I think the problem here was the client stream was failing to save, so nothing saved. Found where this was stored in the WebMediaPortal.xml, and updated them manually. Now I can see my TV schedules and recordings.

Now to try and get my movies and pictures working. Do I need to install the MP CLient on my TV Server to get Movies etc to work, or I fool the system somehow.
