Mark - I guess you're using the DivX or Mainconcept AAC codec as prescribed?

No, I just tried LAVF so far. I'll have a look at the thread Mike mentioned and take it from there.

    Mark

I've been using the DivX AAC codec for the last few weeks (since I got my PCTV 290e) and it's been working fine so far.

The DivX codec seems to be a later version of the Mainconcept codec (the filter properties dialogs look almost identical - other than logos, and DivX and Mainconcept are part of the same company now).

I have had some thoughts about improving the AAC support in TsReader.ax, but this is a long-term background project at the moment ;)

I could not get divx to work properly following changes (think it was AAC 2.0 to 5.1 or another channel with MPEG or DD). Also IIRC it would only output 2.0 on a 5.1 soundtrack. Would be interested if divx version has now merged a lot more of the standard mainconcept one

There is a mantis to do it properly http://mantis.team-mediaportal.com/view.php?id=2831 (this would allow the MS DTV codec?)

There is a mantis to do it properly 0002831: Add NALU support for audio streams (aac) in TsReader - MediaPortal Bugtracker (this would allow the MS DTV codec?)

The DivX decoder I'm using is version 8.8.0.41966 (built 2010/12/15)

I was watching Ch4 HD recording last night - the commercials were 2.0, movie 5.1 (and it was outputting 5.1 - I checked by snooping with GraphStudio this morning).

For those wanting epg for the HD channels this TSWriter will do the job.

It will grab the data from the DVB stream.

Before you copy this into the TV server directory, make a back up of your original TSWriter.ax

Please test and let me know how you get on thanks.

How did you get round the encryption?

It's not encryption, its compression. The same scheme is already in the TSWriter for freesat which is handy as it is the same scheme used by freeview for their HD channels.

It was just a matter of tinkering with the code a little.

Ah ok, I must've misread back when freeview HD first started broadcasting.

I'll give this a go though and let you know the outcome.

They've confused alot of people about this, the only reason they have introduced it is to prevent none licensed boxes appearing being able to record the HD programs. They want the companies to adhere to strict DRM guidelines as to protect the media.

Daft if you ask me but I suppose they can't encrypt the data so they have to try something.

Guess I should probably give you some feedback, seeing as no one has...

Nice as simple - working well under 1.20RC1, as far as I could tell. Don't suppose I can use this version in 1.2 Final, can I?

    Ta!
