    AW: Which h264 codec?

Oh for sure it can. It works welll. Only starting a channel and or switching a channel results in 3-4s black image, picture, black image, ...

I've found both the Cyberlink powerdvd 10 codec and Microsoft DTV work very well. CoreAVC is ok but IMO doesn't give a great picture (2.5 will probably solve this though with DXVA)

The cyberlink codec gives a slightly better picture on my setup (the colours seem more 'natural' on HD and SD upscaling better).

One problem is i've seen the Cyberlink codec crash MP once or twice for no obvious reason. The Microsoft codec is definitely more stable and reliable.

It is highly likely that MS decoder is much more robust for errors in the stream and channel changes. Cyberlink one is developed for DVD / Blu-ray content where the stream errors are basicly non-existing whive MS decoder's target is also the live tv (after all the codec is used in MCE).

I did have similar problems a while ago with the early 10.x ATI drivers. I'd be surprised if 11.1 had re-introduced this (unless it's specific to your card), but it might be worth trying an earlier release

Then i tried the Win 7 MS-DTV codec which works fine on discontinues but when you start livetv or skip i get a heavy flicker for 2-4s with picture, black image, picture, black image, ...

Somehow it sounds like it would be related to the GUI flickering issue with ATI + MP combo has. Sorry, cannot think anything else that could cause such flickering.

I really hope someone would have a developer connection to AMD side that we could communicate with them properly...

but at that time there is no GUI. Also it only happens with MS codec.

When the flickering with GUI happens the GUI gets rendered (overdrawn) by a black content. To me it sounds at least a bit similar.
