However do i leave the MP2 gui running when i have set a recording or should i close it? I think on MP1 it did not really matter.

Neither does it on MP2. Sleep mode is exclusively governed by Windows, hence, as long as your PC is in busy state, it will stay on.

If the hard disk does power down then the computer is essentially shut down, yes? So it wouldn't wake up to record.

A hard disk that is powered down is not a problem. In fact this is a standard feature but you may run into issues when using TV that depending where you have your timeshift files.

I have kept with MP2 timeshift files as default. I changed nuffink.

Then they are on the standard path on your C drive. The HDD shouldn't be allowed to power down in that case.

Best practice would be to have Timeshift files reside on a separate drive, ideally a ram disk.

Just set it to record the dredful one show on bbc1 but it did not start. Earlier today i had updated itunes which operates with a thing called Bonjour Service. This seems to fail. Logs to follow shortly

Crikey hope this isn't too much. MP2 failed to wake up for recording The One Show on BBC1 at 19.00 hrs. I assume it is now recording it
