Hi,

When I turned on the TV tonight, my machine had rebooted by itself and came up with the message "Window Shutdown Unexpectedly". What was interesting was that the machine still woke up from sleep as scheduled using the Powerscheduler. I guess after going to sleep last night, at some point it woke up, rebooted and then went back to sleep.

Because of this, none of my recordings worked

Any help appreciated.

it didn't wake up and reboot, it blu screened which means something happened which windows couldn't handle and completely crashed and had to reboot... google the locale id and bsod to see what comes up... usually a driver issue but sometimes can be hardware problems such as overheating etc...

Most likely some device driver that isnt handling S3/S4 correctly.

I have been doing some digging around and it sounds like it's a common issue of problems re-initialising tuners from S3 sleep.

Just wonderinf if anybody is using it in conjunction with Powerscheduler. I know it sits on the toolbar, but would like to know if you can still use the Powerscheduler as normal. Would also like to know of anybody using this with sucess.

Does not change S3\S4 usage, all it does is stop and restart various services relating to MP, TVcards and network.

So configure Powerscheduler as normal, but disable re-init tuners option.

Not sure whether this will solve your BSOD though.

I'm following another thread with exactly the same problems as I have and I notice you have commented in there as well.

I have deactivated the Reinitialise Tuner option and still no luck in my testing. As mentioned in this thread:

I made sure there was at least 2 hours between the time I scheduled a task and the actual task running. I also tested Analog and HD TV Tuners (I have the Hauppauge Nova 500-T and the PVR 150 MCE) by recording through both tuners and each one of the tuners separately.

As mentioned in the other thread, I also found a "Reinitialise Tuner" delay option in the TC Server General tab. I set this to 20 seconds, tested overnight without luck and then set this to 60 seconds without lucj also. The "Wakeup before recording" option was set to 120 seconds.

Is there anything else obvious we should check before getting into drivers etc??

Make sure under the tvserver\recording tab that you have specified a recording\timeshifting folder for each TVcard you have listed.

OK, I checked those settings and noticed I had duplicate Dual TV settings i.e. A Hauppauge Nova Tuner Card with a tuner 1 and 2 setting, but the same thing again however it pointed to my operating system drive i.e. 2 tuners pointing to C:\ and another 2 settings pointing to E:\ (my data drive)

I have pointed them all to e:\ and will see how some schedulings go overnight.

Any other suggestions appreciated.

Don't use E:\ for recording, use E:\Recorded TV or whatever name you wish for the folder, you should not use the root of a drive.

Sorry, I should have mentioned I did use "Recorded TV" - but interesting I have duplicate dual TV Tuner options?? Should I remove one?

Anyhow, have just logged on to my machine and have the same issue. This time it rebooted again - I noticed that some "Windows Updates" had taken place - perhaps these installed and the machine rebooted itself? Where do you turn these off?? Could that be an issue?

Nothing recorded and when I went into Media Portal and turned on the TV, it came up with a "Timeshifting Error". I have dropped the logs which may help you find the issue. I really would appreciate some help here as it's my only issue (apart from the remote not working after sleep resume which is plugged into the tuner card)
