Hi helsten2, catavolt,

@helsten2
... I did some more testing on the Historical View. As I mentioned above, it takes quite a long time to load (15-30 seconds) ...

@catavolt
... seems latest nightly has a problem ...
sorry, but I'm not able to reproduce this strange behavior. Between the latest nightly build and release candidate there are no Weather Underground related changes, except new property support.
Please check the response time of Weather Underground in your browser. Take the URL http://api.wunderground.com/api/<apikey>/history_<yyyymmdd>/q/<country>/<city>.xml, don't forget to replace all placeholders before. I have tried http://api.wunderground.com/api/<apikey>/history_20071209/q/Norway/Halden.xml and I've got results as exptected.

Cheers, Micropolis

Hi helsten2,
... If I use the URL in my browser it works perfect - instant reply.
for me it seems, that the grabber thrown an exception due to unexpected values. I must check XML structure changes, so I need time to reproduce and to debug the grabber. Hope, I can find test entry criterias before...

Cheers, Micropolis

Hi helsten2,
... Just remember that your previous version seems to work fine ...
during my debugging session it was possible to identify data quality issues (date information was set to 0.0.0000) randomly for some locations. The result was a exception and the Weather Underground grabbers stops. Attached at the first post please find release candidate 2, please try this version and give feedback.
Also I made changes for your problem report from here, you could test this also, if yr.no services are back online.

Question, if it's your native language: The message "Driftsmelding Vi har tekniske problemer på yr.no akkurat nå. Beklager!" from the yr.no Homepage means "We have technical issues, please try again later. Sorry!". Correct?

Cheers, Micropolis

    Will download and test ...
yr.no still seems to have problems, but I will test when they are "back in business"

Your Norwegian is excellent - almost correct:
"Message from operations: We have technical problems at yr.no right now. Sorry!"

I did some quick tests and the exception seems to be fixed. I was always able to get data. :)
However, it still takes some seconds before the screen is populated.

Test 1: I am at the Normal View. I do a Refresh from the menu. As soon as possible I go the the Historical View. This is what I see:
    20-46-46.png

A few seconds later (5-10) the screen is populated correctly:
    20-47-07.png

Test 2: I am at the Historical View. I do a Refresh from the menu. This is what I see:
    20-45-17.png
EDIT: It does not happen all the time ...

EDIT: When I returned to the TV, I had this screen - from the automatic 30 minutes background refresh:
    21-16-09.png
(data for 2008 is missing, data from 2011 is duplicated, the order of the columns is strange and the graph only includes 3 years)

I hope this helps (a little bit). Please tell me if you need some additional information. (yr.no seems still to be down ...)

    Regards

    Hi helsten2,
... However, it still takes some seconds before the screen is populated.
remember, I must send 5 requests to the server, parse all the data and consolidate average and chart values. Also the network infrastructure (e.g. latency, DNS) can affect the response/display time.

That's what I mean with random data quality issues. I don't know why this problem pops up, but if there is a data problem that year must be skipped/ignored.

EDIT: I'll try to design the parser routines simpler, please be patient...

OK. (I just haven't noticed this in the previous versions)

I added one more screen shot in my previous post - please check.

    yr.no is back.
    Graphs look good (y)
Now we only have -4C here. The graph issue was very visible when we had -12-13C. According to the forecast we will have the cold back on Tuesday or Wednesday ... I will keep an eye on the graphs ;)

As stated before, I tried to modify the code to reduce problems. Release candidate 3 is ready for testing purposes. Hint: During my debugging sessions I used your home location and can't see any problems yet.

Yes, please. Thank you very much for your effort, it's fantastic to have this support.
