Do you have VFD or any kind of external display on case? I have iMon display and when I use plugin for driving that display I have processor load of about 20-30% when idle. If I turn display and plugin off procesor load when idle is about 5%... try to shut down all MP plugins and check processor load, than turn plugins one by one and check... you should be able to find out what plugin causes load of 20-30%...
bye
What do you mean by VFD and external display?
I only installed MP not long ago and have not tried any plugin yet, i.e. only standard plugins are installed. I will follow your tip and go through the plugin list.

thanks

well if you don't know what is VFD or external display I supose you don't have problem with it... :) VFD is vacuum floruescent display, kind of technology for displays (like LCD and so)... some HTPC cases have small displays which can show basic info about current status like movie or music trac curently playing... also you can buy display like that and mount it into standard 5.25" bay (www.soundgraph.com). I have one and it seams that driver and plugin for it casues me 20-30% processor load when idle... but, as I said if you don't have it, probably it is not problem with your configuration...

Wow, nice gadget! :)
Where did you buy/order it? from that site?
Does the remote work with MP?
I guess that the display supports all common players, e.g. WinAmp etc. right?
How good does the display work with MP?

Anyway, have to clean up that 25% CPU usage before I get another one hahaha...

I got that VFD bundled with my case (I have Silverstone LC16M http://www.silverstonetek.com/products-lc16m.htm). Remote works with MP but I'm not very happy with remote itself (it works with MP very very good). I don't know how it works with other players because I use only MP :) In MP VFD is very usefull because it can be used for navigation through music files and radio stations so for audio content I don't have to turn on my plasma tv and I find it very handy.

bye

What's the problem?
I read that it can be used to control the mouse. How's it? Easy to use?
I bought
http://www.targus.com/us/CategorySearch.asp?SearchedTerms=amp01&Action=Search

which costs almost as much as the iMon :-(

I just noticed that my desktop case has only one slot for the CD-drive. I have to cut a 5.25" hole for the iMon ( only if it doesn't hit on my motherboard)

First about iMon remote... (my English isn't best one so I hope I'll be successifull with explanation :)).. It has one button which can be moved in all directions and function like mouse pointer devices on notebook keyboards (you know what I mean?). I must say that I do not use it for moving mouse pointer because it wouldn't be the easyest way to control MP. Remote has one button which switch between two modes, first is using pad for controling mouse and second mode is for emulating keyboard cursor arrows. Well I use it in arrows emulation mode and problem is with precision. Since it can be moved in all directions and it is very sensitive usually I got efect like I pressed thow arrows at once (insted it goes up it goes up and left) and it is quite irritating. It would be better if it had four separate keys like arrows are on keyboard.

About cutting the hole in case... hm... if you dare to cut your case probably it would be better to get one iMon VFD device first and to see if it is possible to disassemble it because a lot of case manufactures bundle iMON VFD in thair cases but not in a way to mount it in 5,25" slot. They usualy cut smoller window just for the display and mount it without 5.25" frame. So maybe it would be better option and sure looks much better...

bye

I found it! :-D
Even after shutting down all the plugins, the 25% CPU usage is still there. It disappeared when I removed my capture card. Then I thought that the priority ( which I increased for the card when it drops too many frames) was the problem. But when I added the card back, which has the lowest priority by default, the usage is back to %25.

Now I need to find out what setting I can change to make my TV card sleep when it's not in use :-(

Thank you for the details. Good idea! I haven't thought about that.
But I still need to check the space inside before I buy that and this will be a big surgery :)

I just checked my case, there's plenty of room between the motherboard and the front. But... as you know, the conventional PC case has a metal frame, i.e. behind the plastic front, there's the metal 'wall'. It will be a big job to cut the metal. but if I only cut the plastic there will be only 25mm from the platis to the metal. So, I guess the iMon will look like a half closed drawer :-(
But if it's like this photo
http://www.arisetec.com/jboard_eng/?p=detail&code=newsNnotice&id=20&page=1
I might be able to drill some holes and install the metal between the VDF and its electronic. What do you think?
