In Haali Media Splitter Settings, there is an option "Display error messages" (Options tab -> Interface)

Do you guys have "Yes" or "No" there?

The errormessage is not the issue. THe issue is that MP doesn´t play the file correctly!
If you get the message because your settings are set to yes, you click on OK, if you have it on no, than you don´t have to click he message. Nothing special there.

With some people the video freezez after the message, some have a black screen, some a green screen (like me), etc, etc. Somewhere in an svn omething got changed that gave these messages for the last half year...

how do I know if Directvobsub is installed, because as far as i know, i don´t have it. I don´t need subtitles anyway, but i still get this freekin´ message...after the message, perfect sound, but with a green screen.

Ok, I was under the impression that you just want to get rid of the error message, apparently not.

do you know how i can see if i have directvobsub...

    EDIT:
AAh, I've installed vobsub and now it works! But apparently without hw acc as i can read here on the forum...in MP config I've set the codec to PDVD8...Is is still using this for the playback? And how can i check the bitrate, fps, codecs used, etc?

In other words, how can I see what codecs are used...PDVD8 codec doesnt have a tray icon... And does dvsfilter influence the picturequality? Or does it only force the PDVD codec to not use hw acc... Or does it force some other codec...related to vsfilter or something (i'm just guessing) or does it force to use ffdshow?

It's a known bug. Fixed in RC2. Will just have to wait for release. The problem happens when you have DirectVOBSub installed regardless of whether it's set in the post-processing options or not.

For the time being either use software decode or live with the error message until RC2.

Ah great, because without hw accelleration, my 2.66Ghz Core2DUO couldn't handle the most intense 1080p scenes (the rolling waterweel scene in Pirates of the Caribbean 2)... (can you believe it?!). Even with my processor it gives me a bit of stutter in MP with that scene (and some others).

But you say it happens when you have directvobsub installed...but I didn't have it installed, and still got the errormessage saying its missing a decoder for SRT/UTF8 (and after clicking on ok, a green screen)...Only after installing dvs I could watch the movie (but without hw accelleration offcourse, because of dvs).

So what exactly will be fixed in RC2...that you don't get the SRT/UTF8 errormessage anymore when dvs is disabled and that it works with PDVD8 decoder, so without the green screen, so we can use hw accelleration?

My issue is, I loss video quality (Blacks turn to dark gray) when I turn autoload to yes but it's fine in other players. I switch to no and I get the SRT/UTF8 error message but quality is back. Is this because it's swtching me to software decoding? I'm using coreAVC decoder and vsfilter 2.37.

    Hi all,

having the same problem with the annoying error message :(

Video plays fine for me, I did not see a difference in color levels / video quality.

I have tried to disable and uninstall DirectVobSub, but the error message still remains when decoding subbed h264 content with PDVD 8 decoder.

Is there any possibility to get rid of this error message? Maybe patching / hacking some .dll?
Is it maybe already fixed in the latest SVN build? (though I am reluctant to upgrade now because everything else works now)

    Thanks and regards,
    chimbo

    P.S.: I am running MP SVN-Snapshot-06-13-2008 23-32h - Revision19376.rar

    Just two quick questions:

    * is the problem (of the error message popping up) already fixed in the current SVN snapshot?
    * does it also occur if DirectVobSub is correctly uninstalled?

    Thanks and regards,

I got the errormessage before I even heard of DVS. After I installed it, the errormessage was gone. That is with a few svn's ago, I don't know what the latest svn does.

kkendall: I guess you have DVS enabled, thus I think the subtitle stream can be decoded. However, with DVS enabled HW accelleration for h264/VC-1 content will not work anymore. If I enable DVS, the problem with the error message popping up is gone, but HW acceleration is gone also :(

@developers: is there a mantis bugreport for this problem, or any hints in which file we could fix this?

Yes I know, we figured that one out already as you can see in the posts above :D
I don't know if it's in Mantis yet...
    (EDIT:
    I think it's this one: http://mantis.team-mediaportal.com/view.php?id=1221)

Some say it will be fixed in RC2. If that's the case, DVS will be removed from my system as soon as possible to get HW acc. working again.

I still think it's weird that a subtitle codec breaks the hw. acc. of the video codec...Aren't they 2 completely different things? Is the subtitle codec supposed to influence the video (processing/quality)? Isn't that something that should be added later, after the processing of the video or something? That sounds more logical to me...
But than, I don't know how this works...
And maybe DVS will update soon and add HW acc.
