This issue has been resolved by upgrading to version 2.3.3589. Tested over 2 days on 2 different HTPCs.

Thanks for your help ltfearme :)

UPDATE: This issue is NOT fixed. Just happened twice tonight, same circumstances. 'Unwatched' view, playing last episode in series. :(

Looks like it doesn't happen 100% of the time since it worked without issues last night.

I haven't upgraded to the latest version yet, but when I did an upgrade two weeks ago I also first thought the issue was fixed, but after the first (or maybe first few, I can't remember) episode(s) the problem came back. Now It's 100% of the time. I using the view "All" and it does not matter if there are some unwatched left or not.
My suggestion would be, that it tries to find the next item to focus and somehow fails, because I can see the list for a second or so.
If I only watch a small part of the episode everything is fine. If I watch the full ep it breaks.

same exact issue. i prefer the mpc over the internal player. i'm upgraded to the latest stable release, if i watch a full episode i have a 90% chance of having to reboot mediaportal. i don't remember having this issue with earlier stable releases. maybe last two? any word yet? thanks for bring up this issue, i had trouble describing such a strange problem. let me know if i can help (troubleshooting).

I think I just foumd out where the issue lies:

It's the toggle watched flag. As soon as the 95% are reached and MP TV-Series tries to set the episode to watched after the player closes I hear a clicking sound and the text goes boom.
That's why the problem does not show when only watching part of the episode.

Setting it to 0% doesn't help.

I hope someone can fix this. Thanks.

i concur. setting to 0% does not fix the problem. congrats on finding the source of the issue though. hopefully we'll hear some word from the dev on this. does anyone remember having this specific problem a couple of versions ago?

Same problem here. But I'm afraid that's not the source, because I'm using version 1.0.2 of MP, and when you use an external player, it automatically consider the episode as watched, ignoring if you've watched the full ep or only a few seconds. Also, when I close the external player a few seconds later from starting, I come back to the episode list, and the played episode is marked as watched, and the focus is on the next unwatched episode, so that function is working ok. But indeed, if I watch all the episode, when I come back to MP, the problem is there.

Can it be anything about any timeout, the screensaver, or something like that?

Has someone found a solution for this?

Upgraded to Mediaportal 1.1 Beta (with latest SVN), and TVSeries to 2.5.0 and the problem is still there. Any help?

This may be MP related. Every now and then I also have this in Moving Pictures, as well as in MyTVseries. All goes blank, except for the backdrop. Just clicking around fixes it and I can continue working. It does happen pretty often...

AW: After watching full episode in ext player all text is gone

In my case I even use the internal player and always just get the backdrop and date/time but no MP-TVSeries info at all, after stopping an episode. Does not matter which skin I use, even Blue Wide.

Pressing back to get to the series overview shows MP-TVSeries content again.

This issue is caused by ticking "Use default refresh rate" under General -> Dynamic Refresh Rate in MP Configuration!

Perhaps someone else is able to reproduce it.

For me there's no real need for this option because MediaPortal defaults back to Desktop refresh rate after playing a file (which is the refresh rate I wouldve actually chosen as the default refresh rate).

To quote myself from the MP-TVSeries thread...

Perhaps this will fix it for you as well.
