If you are serious about helping, then the only constructive thing to do is the following.
1. Open MP-TVSeries configuration
2. Switch log level to 'debug'
3. Close MP-TVSeries configuration
4. Start MediaPortal
5. Open MP-TVSeries plugin
6. Recreate problem in as few steps as possible
7. Close MediaPortal
8. Provide all the log files in a nice ZIP file as attachment in your next post
Otherwise, try finding a needle in a haystack, then you'll experience what a developer has to go through when all they hear is "it doesn't work". Proper log files are like a metal detector.
This issue has returned for me since I upgraded from rc2 to rc6 and to MY tvseries 2.5.4. I have attached the logs. Happens everytime I watch a full episode.
I have been doing extensive testing on this over the last few days. I upgraded to Mediaportal 1.1.0 final and TV-series 2.5.6
I cut an episode up into 20second clips and named them ...S01E01 upwards and scanned them in for testing rather than having to watch full shows. Every one of them played fine and the gui returned as it should. Then I played a full length episode 40 minutes and sure enough the gui was blank. The background is always the picture from the TV series currently playing merged with the one from the previous show. For example I get the cast from Criminal Minds mixed in with a picture of the cast of Cougar Town. I played some 20minute shows and it is very hit and miss, sometimes it works sometimes doesn't. It's almost as if it's a time based problem.
Next I thought I would turn off anything that was not neccessary in the configuration. I turned off watch folders, autoupdate on startup, none of it made any difference.
I deleted the database and reimported it which took hours I have a very slow connection, made no difference.
So I downgrade back to 2.5.3 and still the same.
I downgraded to Mediaportal 1.1.0 RC2 and it would still not work, this was a configuration that was working before for me.
So i uninstalled everything and started from scratch, i kept a copy of the database because it would take too long to reimport.
I installed Mediaportal 1.1.0 RC2 and TV-series 2.5.3, generated a new database for just 1 series and it is still not working.
I turned off the option in windows power management that shuts hard drives off after 20 minutes being idle, didn't make any difference.
Now I can't even get it back to a working state like I had before.
I don't know what else to try apart from a new Windows install, but was trying to avoid that.
Any help appreciated, if you need any logs just let me know which version of Mediaportal and TV series you want them from and I will get them for you.
I've been having this exact same issue for months now. I recently set up a brand-new HTPC, installed the latest stable release of MP and TV-Series, and I use ZoomPlayer as my external media player.
I have the same issue marking an episode as "watched" after a certain percentage; it doesn't matter what value I enter, an episode will get marked as watched after 2 seconds or 1 hour of viewing.
The problem of the episode view getting all borked is more troublesome. I'm having the exact same end result: a screen with a mixture of 2 series backgrounds, and no episodes at all. It doesn't matter what view I start off with - all, favorites, unwatched, etc - the bug is random. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.
I'll be posting a log tonight, after I recreate the issue.
Other than this, I love this plugin! The new import dialogue is fantastic. Thanks for all the hard work, guys!
Okay, so I've got a log for the latest incident of this event. Can someone take a look and let me know if they see anything wonky? So far, like everyone else with this issue, it happens like clock work on hour-long episodes, not so much on half-hour shows. Maybe there's a time limit or something...
