I just checked and this appears to be a newer version of the BDA driver. Maybe that is why there are two versions listed in the config file.

If this is a third version, you will have to adjust the config file to match the driver.

BDA driver

i'm downloading the beta BDA driver, when I swithced the captiondefinition file to the Microsoft ATSC I still got blank everything. Although it does scan for channels. I'll try this new driver. And let you know.

Ps. I started out on the mythtv route but decided to go towards media portal just so I could drop to windows for my DRM music colleciton on my new 37" lcd tv. So sweet.

Is it true that Media Portal is related to XBMC? I love XBMC

To diagnose your problems you should use the Media Portal logs, and use GraphEdit to view the graph that it makes when scanning for channels. Between the two, you should come up with the problem. It usually is one of three things (or all three):

1) Incorrect Device ID
2) Incorrect filters or filter names
3) Incorrect pin assignments

You can also open the properties of the tuner filter to change the settings. Don't try this while MP is scanning. Save the graph and open it seperately.

As for the XBMC connection. One of the main developers is from that project. Here is his blog from the main web site.

Beta Driver Worked

I downloaded that BDA and I now have video and audio. I even had pretty good success with timeshifting and recording. A little buggy, i'm going keep playing with it and go from there. But officially there is success with this airstar HD5000 card.

I have been using mythtv but am looking to switch due to program data problems. I am never tried to install it. I think I will in the near future.

Is the program data problems that you are referring to the discontinuation of the Zap2it EPG data?

Media Portal uses the same Zap2it data for the USA EPG. I actually have stopped using MP because of EPG problems with Zap2it. Those problems are cleared up now, but I went back to using BeyondTV4. I figured that I would have to eventually, anyway.

There may be a solution for the EPG that I don't know about. I haven't been keeping track of it anymore.

I have media portal installed. I have installed my airstar dba driver. How do I scan for channels. My channels are qam. I was able to tune them with some work with mythtv. If I go into the card settings under the autotune page and I hit scan it makes my maching reboot. I am not sure that would work any way because it looks like it is trying to tune satellite channels not cable. Any suggestions.

Do I need to use the tuning program from technistat and then input the information manually.

I am running a Xubuntu machine as a server with all my movies and series on it, I run a VirtualBox VM with Windows 10 installed on the virtual machine and MP1 client installed on that. MP runs fine on the VM but I no longer have a tv tuner to test if passthrough is possible. I don't think it would work anyway.

This is for the tvserver, the iptv part. It used to only support m3u files containing all the channels, but now you can use a m3u8 too. Usually you get an m3u8 from your iptv provider, but there are also some that can be found on the internet

I don't know about MP2 but as you said you tried MP1 too, how is the MP music config ?
