    AIW 7x00 definition is now in CVS - the updated file is here...

    You won't get timeshifting and you'll need a decent processor to record.
    Try and use the ATI encoders (If at all) as these are optimized for your card.

    Also set your framesixe to 640x480 to reduce the encoding burden.

    IS works but with problems

    Yeah should be fine - ensure your decoders are DxVA compatible and that functionality is turned on.
    have a look at the CPU % when timeshifting and recording.

    I am having the same problem with choppiness when timeshifting is on or off, CPU is not at 100%. I also have noticed that when I start Mediaportal each time I need to go into the setup, go to the card and under video capture change the card to PAL_B, it is not doing this automatically. What are DxVA decoders ?

    I have a 2.8 gig P4
    256 meg of ram
    AIW9600 PRO
    Latest Cat drivers 5.4 From AIW
    MP 1.2.0.0

    Set PAL_B by editing the channels you're having problems with.
    DxVA decoders use the GPU's processing power to help decode the content i.e. InterVideo Decoders. - Search the forum.

    If you still have choppyness edit your capturecard.xml file and look for these lines...

    Code:
    <m_FrameSize>
    <width>640</width>
    <height>480</height>
    </m_FrameSize>
    <m_FrameRate>25</m_FrameRate>

    If the width and height is greater than 640x480 then reduce it down as per above.

    sorry but I have the same problem with an AIW7500.
    If I try your tip quoted above, MP has 2 "AIW 9x00" in the capture card listbox. If I choose the new one, I don't have all the setings in the device properties. And the tuner doesn't appear in this list.

    If I try to make autotune, I see a black screen. It seems to be like the tuner is not selected and the capture screen is the video in pin.

    Sorry for my french english :wink:
    Is it normal I have 2 "AIW 9x00" in the capture card listbox? Why does the tuner not appear in the device properties?

    I have the MMC 9.02 and the catalyst driver 4.8.

    MP POWWWAAAAA!!!

    Edit the xml file and find the AIW9x00 section - remove that and then retry.
    You should then only have one option called AIW7x00.

    This has worked thanks.

    I edited the code in the capturecard xlm file but the choppiness is still there with or without timeshifting on

    It's a software encoding card so your resources are likely to be constraint.

    Cat 5.5 drivers out and working

    I updated to the new ATI Cat 5.5 drivers, and things are working okay.
    The device id changed to "ntativrv40", so I changed that in the capturecarddefinitions.xml and reconfigured my card:

    Code:
      <capturecard commercialname="ATI AIW 9x00 Cards" capturename="ATI Rage Theater Video Capture" devid="ntativrv40">

    Channel switching seems to have improved for me when timeshifting is off.

    The ATI Mutimedia Center is also updated to 9.08. According to the release notes, the latest version "introduces a new Audio Format option. The Preserve Best Audio Quality option is now the default setting and the recorded file uses the same audio format as the source." I haven't located this setting; perhaps it is a feature that only applies to certain ATI cards.

    Thanks Rich - ntativrv40 is now the new default for AIW 9x00 cards.

    I don't know if the AIW7x00 and AIW 9x00 VIVO devices are affected by this software update.
    Only you can tell me...
