The last channel is Channel 4 which i checked was okay on the DVBViewer. Tried without and with QPSK. I did a partial scan before that

Oh, and get some sleep!! :)

Well it is looking like the S500 is either not compatible or requires a trick that we aren't aware of yet to get it working. I've got one more thing that I can think of that we should check, but it is a pretty long shot. Try the attached DLL, but don't expect miracles.

Oh, and get some sleep!! :)

I'm going to email Compro with my official MediaPortal email address quickly before I go to bed and see if I can get any information from them about how to get their tuners working. After that I promise I'm going to sleep... :)

    Unfortunately no miracles :(

    It was fast though lol

    do you need the logs?

I might email DVBViewer people, maybe they know something and might share.

No - no logs required. You're welcome to email DVBViewer. My experience is that their software is excellent - I own it and use it occasionally for troubleshooting - however they were not helpful when I emailed about a technical issue I had with my tuner (DiSEqC worked in DVBViewer but not in any other application). That's to be expected. They're a commercial competitor to MP... ;)

Have posted request on DVBViewer forum, but I agree with you that I doubt we'll get much resposne, which is fair enough, but worth a shot.

I can confirm that the card works perfectly with PrgDVB6 also (the free version).

Can anyone confirm please, who is watching this thread, that the standard transponder list of channels and settings works fine for Eurobird, Astra 28.2 - if those settings work fine with another DVB-S card then I guess that narrows things down - in particular the use of QSPK which isn't in the settings, but is in KingofSat listing and on the DVBViewer settings.

    :D

Just a thought/question after doing more research. Is it possible that the DirectShow filters/modules making up the graph? are not set correctly.

I don't know exactly how all this works, but I assume (dangerous game) that the s500 dba compliant? driver gets the parameters, which I assume must be correct, and the driver passes signals to the "graph" comprising of various modules/filters the output of which is then identified/monitored by the part of the program that indicates no signal is present. I again assume that this monitor is not seeing the actual output from the driver itself, but from the graph. Is it possible to detect the actual output from the driver, even if this doesn't make sense. Or is my thinking just rubbish - lol

Going to bed - again, so will be in touch in 12 hours.

btw I lived/travelled in NZ in 89-91 - Auckland, Kaitaia, Wellington and Upper Hutt, don't know why I left really. I miss the beaches and Vogel bread, green lipped mussels, fresh caught snapper and the flaky yeast on my salad - none of which you can get here in the UK.

    Gordon :)

Anyone else - a graph expert perhaps - got any thoughts on how I could check this aspect of the system?

It's a bit of a show shopper for media portal for me!

If other apps can get signals from this device, we should be able to!

btw searching through the Comprous site forum (based in Taiwan) I doubt we'll get much help from those people either. Based on the standard of their technical support, I'd hardly recommend anyone buying their kit - check it out before you buy.

As an update I have now installed a technomate motorised 80cm dish in Stoke (£230) - guess what, the S500 doesn't drive it!, even when I tried a win xp machine :(

Why is my life so full of woe!

Still no response from Compro... :(
They seem more responsive on their forums. Have you raised an issue there?

Not about this issue, but I can do. Only thing is about what to say? I can't really say your app works in DVBViewer and progDVB but not in MePo? (lol). Any suggestions :)

Not that anyone will be interested ;), but I got my motor turning using progDVB and setting the repeat diseqc commands value to 1.
I probed the signal with a small lcd oscilloscope and conformed I was at least getting some pulse trains - that was fun!

    But I want MePo :(

...and I want you to have Mepo too! :D

I'm battling a similarly frustrating issue with a TBS tuner at the moment - tunes and locks in other apps easily, but no matter what I do, no lock in MP. In this case I actually have an SDK and hardware to test with, so I'm hoping for success. If I make any changes that have any potential to affect other tuners (ie. that might make your tuner work) then I will post you a binary for testing. Until then, I've got my fingers crossed that Compro will get back to me...
