I just want to say I cannot wait to see chromecast support from ampdroid. There's a great little write up from Oxan in this thread about how it could be implemented.
I hope DieBagger is on board with this idea as once it is up and running, I think more of the MP community and also a large number of new MP users would be interested in streaming local media and live TV to the new device. (also a good incentive to get this developed soonish would be the increase in app sales! ;) )

I also hope Google don't take long with releasing this outside of the US

Hi thundercats, i am happily using Ampdroid at the moment and its working as good as ever, some big improvements in the Android app....much smoother and easier to connect. Music streaming to a fashion. TV and recordings all good. Great layout, with latest media showing on homepage of app, and the remote is great.....all good.

    Hi,

I'm using ampdroid for some time now on my Nexus 7. Running fine and dandy!

Now I've got a new Galaxy S4 and ran into some issues. I can't stream any movie with the inbuilt player. When I start a movie with the HTTP profile I get only sound. With VLC and FFmpeg the video doesn't even start.

When I select external player I get playback with the HTTP profile, but no playback with the other 2.

When I want to stream music, the music doesn't start and keeps on skipping to the next track untill the end of the playlist.

Known issues with the S4? Maybe wrong setup in ampdroid (I used the same as on my Nexus 7). I even tryed 'request to service' (translated from Dutch) in the client setup of ampdroid. But no difference.

Somehow the music issue is gone, but the playback of video remains the same.

My experience is the same with some HTC phones, but I did the opposite way... I've been running aMPDroid on old HTC Desire and also in HTC One S with stock Sense Roms, with bad compatibility results in video streaming... Then I switched to an AOSP custom ROM in the HTC One S, and now I've got a Nexus 4, and also an Asus Transformer with an AOSP ROM, and all is working just fine.

My guess is that manufacturers somehow "break" AOSP experience with their personalization layers (Sense, Touchwiz and so on)... :(

Could make sense. I was always running my galaxy s2 with AOSP. So maybe that's the issue.
