Re: [Android] aMPdroid 0.6 - Android Remote Control

First thank you so much for making the MP experience even better!
This is a really great first release and I will difenetly donate next month to this product if it will be possible adn I think others will too.

    My Feature requests/suggestions/questions :)

    Auto connect remote always option.

When browsing TV EPG and everything under TV it would be great to choose a group that it should always load instead of "All Channel" group.

Rotation view portrait/landscape in for example the EPG

Able to choose to how many hours the EPG show. Would be good to have it show maybe 6 hours of TV at a time. and also the Earlier/Later don´t go much back I think.

Direct Control of the Media Portal Spotify plugin Rockstar 2.0 made by user Seco. Maybe there could be access to the same menus on the phone and start music from spotify with it

Is the program able to show the TV logos from MP?

When trying to play channel locally the APP crashes on my HTC Desire. What can I do to fix it? Already instaled free version of Vplayer and tried turn off/on my phone.

When I get streaming to work will it work when I am not on on my own LAN but using 3G or WIFI in other places?

hofi: thanks, that was the point.

Is it possible to browse music and moving pictures, yet?
Everytime I select that at the android device, it says "No Connection To Service".
The paths in config.xml are all correct.

    Hello,

now I test it al little bit more. The remote and the Video section works fine, but the Tv section will not work. I allways get a "no connection" I installed "TV4Home CoreService (MP 1.1.3) (Update: 15.05.2011))" from the link in the first Post and the Link

    http://localhost:4321/TV4Home.Serve...ractionService/json/TestConnectionToTVService

gives me a true. Is there any config or Log-File that I can check?

My system is: Mediaportal 1.1.3 on Win Vista 32bit. The phone is a Motorola defy with android 2.1

    And here some other suggestions:

    - Sorting the Movie and Music Section by Name or Date.

    - A scroll button for the movie and music Section like in the Android E-Mail Program

    - Start Mediaportal Button

When i Get the TV-Section working this is the best Remote for Android.

    Hi,

Which ports do I need to open in my firewall to get this applications to work? Is port 4321 for TV4Home enough or I need to open ports for Wifireomote and GmaWebservice too? I have installed the services and verified that they are ok, but when I try to connect from my phone I always get "Remote connection couldn't be etablished".

Do I need to set any authentiontion (username/password) in Tv4Home? I have set same username/password in Gmawebservice and Wifiremote.

    Regards,
    Micke

    Crix1990,
turn off Firewall for testing and write in the aMPdroid Config - Client - Username: admin Password: admin, that did the trick for me.
In the Firewall i had to enable the Gma and the Tv4Home Ports (4321 & 44321) on W 7, the Default Entrys fron the two Programms dont running for me.

Re: [Android] aMPdroid 0.6 - Android Remote Control

I did all the steps above

    installed TV4Home
    installed net 4.0
    installed GmaWebservice
    The GMA test service works

Checked paths in GMA webservice username-paths are admin-admin

    Installed WifiRemote
In MP config under plugins - Wifiremote I chose port 8017 and my PC name
also chose admin-admin as username and password

    Disabled my Firewall

Installed aMPdroid on my Samsung Galaxy Tab
Setup my client with computer name, IP adress, username-pass admin-admin

Now the first connect works, i get:
    "Succesfully established connection to remote"

But after that when I open TV series or movies all I get is:
"No connection to service" or "Remote is not connected"

Anybody got ideas how to fix this?

Re: [Android] aMPdroid 0.6 - Android Remote Control

A few notes on some of the bugs that come up:

WifiRemote config doesn't show QR Tab
Unfortunately the released version was a bit older so the QR code wasn't in it. It will be included in the next release

App crash when streaming live tv
I was using an older version of VPlayer and I guess the author changed the app path. I will change this for the next version

    Cannot connect to service xxx:
Make sure you can access the services with the links I provided in the second post. If you can't connect to the hostname, try entering the ip address. To clarify which service is needed for which part of the app:
    • WifiRemote: For the remote control (first icon) and for starting videos/music on the pc
    • GmaWebservice: For browsing media/music (2nd and 3rd icon) and for downloading/playing stuff on the mobile
    • Tv4Home: For the tv related stuff (4th icon)

Re: [Android] aMPdroid 0.6 - Android Remote Control

DieBagger, Thanks a lot for this excellent app which fills an important gap in MP.

Here's some feedback regarding my installation process following your instructions. I am running MP 1.2.0 Beta on a Windows 7 client. The TV server is installed on a server running Windows XP. Windows firewalls are turned off on client and server.

    • Installation of TV4Home on the server went fine. Testing returns true.
    • Installation of .net 4.0 and GMA Service on the client went fine. Testing returns the expected string after entering the right credentials (User ID: admin; PW: admin).
    • Installation of WifiRemonte on the client went fine. After entering the Wifi Remote setup in MP Configuration, I tried to install bonjour by clicking the respective button. Nothing happened, though. I therefore installed bonjour on the apple web site. Now, the setup dialog says "Bonjour already installed". Testing the installation with the demo client showed that the setup is correct. I use the "No Authentification" method.
    • Download and installation of the APK file on my Samsung Galaxy S i9000 went very confortably using the tag on the download page.
    • Starting the MP aMPdroid app went fine. I miss the QR barcode on the setup dialog in MP configuration, though. Therefore, I had to set up the connection manually.
    • I am able to connect to MP on the client and to use your app as a remote control. I am also able to connect to the TV4home servic as I can access the EPG. I am not able to connect to the music and movie databases, though (the message "No connection to service" appears). I tried to de-/reinstall the app, remove/change the client settings, add the right credentials admin/admin to the GmaWebservicee, remove the credentials in the C:\Program Files\GmaWebService\config.xml file etc. without luck.

    What else could I try?

    Thx, G.

I am experciencing exactly the same behaviour as above.
    My TVserver is on a win7 x64 SP1
One MPClient on Win7 x32 SP1 (same stuff with Bonjour, also manually downloaded from apple)
One MPClient on Win7 x64 SP1 The Bonjour installation did run well from the plugin

    Looking very promising!!!:D
