I am confused though. In the instructions it tells me to uninstall the VFD programme, but that is contradicting the fact that I will need to use the VFD.exe file later on?
What is the deal with that?

To be quite blunt... the deal with that is that you can't read....

The instructions quotes the error message from the iMON program that tells you to uninstalll... The instructions do NOT tell you to uninstall anything!

    Hi all
I have the Antec Fusion Black 430 with LCD display (VFD software on the Antec CD) working by following the instructions previously posted by CYBRMAGE.
MediaPortal 0.2.3 RC2 with SVN 2-10-2007, Windows XP Pro, Logitech Harmony 785 remote

    The steps I followed were:
    1. Install the Soundgraph iMon 6_01_0122 software, downloaded from the soundgraph site. I did NOT install the software on the CD that came with the Antec case. Reboot. Allow the automatic iMon update to run.

    2. Manually hex edit (I used Cygnus Hex Editor 2.50) the c:\Program Files\SOUNDGRAPH\iMON\iMon.exe file as descibed in this post:

    http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26053&page=2&highlight=imon+patch

    offset 2A625 change 0F 84 6C 0E 00 00 to 90 90 90 90 90 90
    offset 2A631 change 0F 84 60 E0 00 00 to 90 90 90 90 90 90
    offset 2A63D change 0F 84 54 E0 00 00 to 90 90 90 90 90 90
    offset 43A8D change 0F 84 84 0C 00 00 to 90 90 90 90 90 90
    offset 43A99 change 0F 84 78 0C 00 00 to 90 90 90 90 90 90
    offset 43AA5 change 0F 84 6C 0C 00 00 to 90 90 90 90 90 90

The iMonpatch.exe did not work for me so I edited manually as above.

    3. Install MediaPortal & SVN. Configure Mediaportal to use MCE Remote and External display plugin to: Soundgraph iMon Integrated USB VFD/LCD Driver

    4. Setup Harmony 785 remote to emulate MCE 1039 remote.

    5. In iMon Manager, Settings, Remote Controller set to MCE Remoe

    6. In iMon Manager, Settings, Windows Command, Power Management Command set System Standby to [MCE remote] Power. This enables the LCD to completely black out on switch off.

Still playing - a work in progress.
    Hope this helps someone.

    Hi,
I must ask, where in Point nr. 5 do you choose the MCE Remote(am I blind or...)?
And one more thing, could you please be so kind to post your "MediaPortal.imo"(so others could import it) :D

    Hi Uggabugga
Not sure what iMon version you have there but I have both the iPad & MCE Remote in that same list. Did the iMon auto update complete properly? Did the hex edit work OK?
Have you tried the Add button???? I don't have that, only a Reset button.
I haven't needed an imo file, just the steps above and the basic functions of MP that I use work, really just music at this stage. When 0.2.3 is released I will spend a lot more time refining my remotes operation.
I only posted to say what can be done to get a working Antec Black, so a big thanks to cybrmage and all the other posters who helped me.
The real problem is the crap software/drivers shipped by Antec. All of this messing around should not be necessary. I wouldn't buy an Antec case again.

    Hi RCW,
I removed everything to do with iMON and started from scratch. This time it works. Now just have to figure out/set-up all the mappings to my MCE remote. Thank you for your help/and cyberimage of course.
I did write a "not so nice" support request to Antec and point to this post and the on sagetv forum. So we will see what they anwer back!
    Thanks again :D

Antec VFD in Media Portal - Keep getting iMon error

Hi - I tried the method set out above, but when I attempt to run the iMon software app I get an error that says "VFD is for ANTEC not iMon VFD" - or something similar and the iMon app will not load.

Is there a way to fix this? I thought it was because the antec VFD driver was still in place but I removed this and I still get the error. Any advice? Thanks

    Ghaz

I would try deleting the c:\Program Files\ANTEC\VFD\ folder if it still exists after the Antec VFD uninstall and try again.
It's also possible that the Antec VFD uninstall also left some registry entries that are picked up by the iMon installer. If you are familiar with regedit look in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run for an entry for vfd.exe and delete it then reboot.
Make sure to reboot after uninstall.
I know the error you are talking about but I have completed the successful steps above on a clean Win XP install, so I hope these tips work.

Actually my problem is stupidity. I had not run the patch properly. it seems to work well now. Any way to get the graphic equaliser up rather than the track/time that I have now?

Thanks for this post - I have had the Antec case almost 2 years and this is the last thing I had to do. Happy now.

    Hi,
many many thanks for these instructions! Only had the Fusion for a few months but was losing faith in it as couldn't get the display to show anything worthwhile...now, thanks to this it does! And the MCE remote nearly works in MP (as said early on...its not mapped perfectly but its close enough!)

One problem I have left with the display though is the whole thing is pretty bright, and the words are very faint on it...is there any way to adjust this, and (ok, two problems!)...when MP starts the words 'Me' start to appear on the right of the display and then stop! I'm guessing its about to scroll 'Media Portal' across the screen but it freezes until I start scrolling through the menu.

Any ideas on how to adjust these gratefully received! (think I had a brightness option when the original VFD software was installed, but now that I have iMon its gone!)

    Cheers
    Phil

    Hello Phil W,

This thread will give you all info about Antec (iMod) VFD driver : https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/updated_imon_soundgraph_lcd_driver-t26713.html

About Antec LCD, you can only adjust the contrast in the iMon driver of this thread. The background will stay blue and the contrast will always be bad. Antec choosed this version but anyone know why...

    Cheers
