Latest media info doesn't change within a section - it's always the one of the first item.

It never has done it's always been the latest media item in the relevant section it was designed that way.

Oops, then that's my fault as I did not expect that behaviour and before that release I had the RSS option enabled ...

And a request: please remove the latest media info if no corresponding tile is selected.

You will have to mod that, i want info in the bottom at all times.

Maybe I will ... Would it be possible in this course to also only show info of the selected item? I mean where would I get the reference to it?

All the bottom info stuff is in BasicHomeExtraInfos.xml

Latest media in the screen is only visible when you have a relevant tile selected, so if you set one of the plugins as moving pictures you will get latestmedia when you focus it ( same for mov pics/myvideo/tvseries ) and mymusic but only bottom info currently.
