Reinstall due to problem with MovingPictures? or reinstall due to problem with OS?

If it is OS, you simply restore your backup of MovingPictures and all watched info is recovered. If you reinstall due to problem with MovPic then you might want to look into why you keep having to reinstall, because it should not be required.

However Moving Pictures Social has a future enhancement planned to support export and import of watched status, which will most likely also lead to the same function inside the program itself, so star the issues on google code to stay informed on those.

what should i be backing up to keep the watched info? i remember i tried backing up the database file once but i find sometimes the links to already downloaded/linked background images and such get messed up when it couldnt find them.

i tend to uninstall the older version before installing a newer one. its not a crashing thing, just force of habit of not "upgrading."

The upgrade process is actually extremly smooth and effortless. If you replace the DLL either manually (the ZIP download) or via installing (the EXE/MSI download). The first time you run it, it will detect what database version you have currently installed and upgrade it automatic if needed.

The MovingPictures.db3 database file contains all the data the plugin uses and the 'thumbs' folder has all the artwork. So that is all you need to backup if you reinstall the same (or newer) MovPic plugin.

If there are any breaking changes in the upgrade process where an uninstall of old one is recommended, then fforde will put this in the releaselog that is posted with each version (as well as history of previous releases incase you missed an upgrade), so if you are worried you can just read through that before 'upgrading'.

Yes, unfortunately, this would need a code change to support it. Next time I'm doing something on the plugin I'll try and remember to add support for this sort order.

maybe setting loglevel to debug might pinpoint the difference between normal and stuck? Preferable with as much disabled as possible also try to see if anything is happening during stuck for the mediaportal process(resource monitor, disk activity, cpu usage, anything) maybe other programs competing for resouces?
