Updating to Vista seems a good idea...if I did not have other software that doesnt work with Vista (some games, Autocad, Office).. so I am stuck with Windows XP.

    All,
I have just submitted my logs to ATI based on a request from them, asking me to run thier trouble report generating tool. Lets see what kind of action we get from this....

I got a response back from ATI. It's all good news I am afraid......they solved my ticket.

the fix = roll back to 7.2....seriously...that was there response.

Also they said to fill out the Catalyst crew feedback form.....so i've done that and I swear I will never use or recommend an ATI product again for HTPC stuff......

I think that is actually good news. This means they acknowledge the problem is in their drivers! (Or at least, they confirm the problem is solved by rolling back their drivers.)

I've got good hope this means they will release an update when/if they manage to solve the problem on their side...

Because ATI seems a little reluctant to do something about their driver, I have sent a message to Abit asking if they can push ATI to do something about this problem. The same day I got an answer saying that Abit does not support open source software, which I can understand... but also that they cant really help pushing ATI.. in the mean time they also advised to roll back to 7.2 and wait for a working update of their driver.

Because Abit responded so quickly, and content of the response, tells me they know about the problem, and they know that ATI is working on it.

Well I guess with 5000 downloads a day MediaPortal is more widely spread than many games are. And every competitor wants a share from that steadily growing HTPC market. Features like Purevideo / Avivo got more and more important and dynamic content will be found in every TV device soon. So it wouldn't be wise to neglect that area, would it?

I just wonder how big of an issue this can be?

What luck that it affects just one graphical component.... its just strange. Ah well, at least everything else is working flawlessly!

Does anyone here get h.264 acceleration of his/her x1250?

If not, than can we state that the x1250 is not capable of playing HDTV/BlueRay/HDDVD? They could spare the HDMI output then...

Hey all, been silently reading the forums and playing with MP since a few month now and as it is my first post I wanted to thank all the devs here for the marvelous piece of software they're building.
Now, on this issue, I am afraid I have the same but with a XPRESS 200 motherboard (I know this baby ain't very recent but it suits me well - maybe cause I have not tried HD yet :) ). Basicaly I experienced GUI freezes in MP mostly with Blue two skin in situations like Music with filmstrip layout. I found that going to windowed mode and back to fullscreen would release the otherwise frozen GUI but it wasn't very satisfactory as a solution, so i found this thread and tried rolling back to ati driver v7.2 (who knows... - no horendous CCC here, just the driver), which solved the issue. If logs or tests would help improve the situation I can provide.
