Does anyone here get h.264 acceleration of his/her x1250?

If not, than can we state that the x1250 is not capable of playing HDTV/BlueRay/HDDVD? They could spare the HDMI output then...

I can confirm that h.264 works. Watched a few videos in h.264, works very well with Mediaportal 0.2.3 and Vista Ultimate new install with all updates. Using a Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H with the onboard X1250 video and the latest BIOS and drivers.

Vista seems to work fine with the X1250.

XP is the problem, so its either M$ or ATI, do not care as long as it is fixed.

Sorry if i sound cynical in any way, but this GPU is causing headaches all round.

    Answers would be nice!!!

I think that ATI is moving quickly towards Vista drivers, for that reason they are not so concerned about XP driver issues. I don't know if I would blame ATI entirely, they must have a lot of pressure from MS to move towards Vista drivers as soon as possible.

Anyhow, I too am glad that this works now, I was concerned that I had bought new hardware and could not use it.

h.264 works of course, on software level, but with x1250 GPU acceleration? Did you try it with 1080i or 1080p material? Maybe you have a beefy CPU which does anything!

My solution is for the x1250: upgrade to Vista to get rid of the flipY and the black level problem, encode MPG2 (SD television and DVD) with cyberlink codec accelerated with Avivo to get nice deinterlace and decode h.264 (Blue Ray and satellite HD-TV) with CoreAVC pure software solution. I hope I will be happy. I will report.

And my wife was concerned I´d bought new hardware and can not use it! This is MUCH worse :)

I am using 7.12 with flipy removed and to tell you the truth, if I didnt know that the reflections should be under the covers I would never know. This platform has exceeded my expectations at this pricepoint. I do have a beefy CPU (3 ghz) so that probably offsets any other issues somewhat. I can watch 1080p material with no problems, upscale dvd and .avis to 1280x720 with many image inhancements with no stutter. The only thing that could make me happier is to fix the reflections issue.

I could always upgrade to another vid card, but you know what they say. If I put a new card in, I am sure I would have another load of issues. For now, I am content to enjoy this wonderful package that has been put together.

To reiterate, I could not be happier with my system and Mediaportal right now.

What are the effects of flipy="false" ?
Whant to upgrade my system to ATI HD2400 but i'm not sure to to this.
Perhaps i should buy a NVIDIA card ?

The flipy has no bearing if you're upgrading your card. If you do go ATI route whatever you do don't buy AGP card as they seem to have stopped supporting them properly in later drivers!

FLIPY is used to provide reflections. There is some further information on this back on this topic page 2 or 3 I think.

Hail to all X1250 users! I am happy now. I upgraded to Vista from XP (I gave money out only because of my x1250). Catalyst 7.12

    - I have the nice FlipY reflections without freeze :D (with original skins)
    - Avivo functions as it should be (under XP the color correction in CCC did not work, no effect), HW Acceleration for mpg2 with smooth deinterlacing
    - small TV preview window works flawlessly (under XP it flickered or stuttered)

    Other experiences:
    - black level (color range expansion) problem is still existing, but at least I can correct it with Avivo (without need of ffdshow postprocess filter which excludes HW-acceleration)
    - Windows Media Video hardware acceleration button disappeared in Catalyst CC (under XP there was a checkbox for it), but who cares
    - EVR has no visible advantage as far as I can see (some reported black level problem can be solved with it, for me it did not help), I stick to VMR9 exclusive mode (btw absolutely no tearing with it)
    - still no 50 Hz overscan correction in CCC, just like with XP

I sorted out the most annoying MP problems in a minute through Vista, which costed me weeks of frustration under XP. I am a much happier MP user now! My HTPC can play DVD with acceptable picture Quality! h.264 behaviour I will test in the next days.

Before someone very clever suggest I should have bought a XT 2600 HD instead of Vista: I have a booksize barebone without free PCIe slot.
