Hi Spragleknas,

I have downloaded the BlueTwo flipy removed.zip from page 10 and used it.

I have made a Ghost of my HD half an hour ago, and at the moment I am installing Vista. If MP is not working with Vista, I can easely going back to XP and try a modified skin.

At least I am of the street...
(PS, I have a Celica too)

    Edit:
I did some tests with SD MPG2 deinterlacing. 720x576 px, 50 Hz interlaced (DVB-S stream), ATi Avivo MPG2 codec:
I state that the x1250 can do only bob deinterlacing. Sofisticated deinterlacing as adaptive or motion adaptive it can not handle.
    Deinterlacing in Catalyst Control Centre
    - manual bob -> acceptable, deinterlaced picture
    - manual adaptive -> black screen, video does not play
    - manual motion adaptive -> black screen, video does not play
    - automatic -> same picture quality as "bob"
Very dissapoining results. One should not expect good video quality from a hardware which can handle bob deinterlacing at the best (even with hardware accelerated SD mpg2).

I am having trouble with this card as well. I don't get any HD OTA so I'm stuck with SD for now. I have my satellite receiver going to my capture card via S-Video and my video card goes to my Toshiba 46H83 (RP CRT) via component. Bob gives the best quality (manual adaptive and motion adaptive produces choppy video). The problem is that no matter what deinterlacing I choose or decoder I use I get an annoying stutter (video stuttering for a second every 2-5 minutes). This stutter occurs when using VMR9 rendering. If I use EVR I don't get any stutter, but the picture shakes every 2-5 minutes (almost like the effect of a strobe light). This "shaking" lasts for about 5 seconds each time. I'm using Vista but had the same stuttering problem in XP.

Any thoughts? Full specs are in my signature.

If you want HD, ALL you connections should be HD compattible, so having your satelite receiver connected to your capture card via Svideo is a no go.. no wonder you cant get the HDTV working..

As far as I know, there are not many capture TV cards that are HDTV compattible, you should somehow bypass the satelite receiver and get a DTV-S card where you can plugin the sat dish cable directly (tuner on the card).

Do you have the same problems when playing a HD movie from your hard drive? If so, make sure your component output format is the same as your TV Input (50Hz, PAL). That it is stuttering just every 5 minutes or so, looks like something is running in the background now and then, eating all your resources (email check? Virus scanner?, downloading movies from usenet?, Bittorrent.. that kinda stuff) Playing HD video is quite demanding on harddrive and system resources, so when something else comes throught, it may have some effect on the playback of your movie.

With Vista you only need EVR, I have turned off all VMR9 settings in Mediaportal configurator, and now everything plays smoothly

I am downloading quite some movies everyday, and let that go on while watching a movie, but then now and then I experience a little stutter, when the newsgrabber writes another RAR file to the harddrive.. Because I know what it is I can accept it, but I know when something happens and you do not know what caused it, it can freak you out!

    I hope this helps

Thanks for the quick reply. My apologies, I should have been more clear. I don't get any HD OTA in my area, so I'm not even attempting to watch HD on my setup. I have a Hauppauge HVR-1600 which is a hybrid card so if I am able to get HD signals OTA I should have the card necessary to do that.

The only HD I have played on my Hard Drive are trailers that I have downloaded off the Internet. Those are typically 2-3 minutes long so I can't do a real test but for those 2-3 minutes, everything plays back smooth as silk (720p setup in ATI control panel).

As for the stuttering, nothing is running in the background, Virus scanner is completely disabled, and I don't download anything from this PC. Monitoring the CPU, there are no spikes and the CPU usage is very low (due to SD content). I ran MEMTEST a couple of times to ensure that my RAM is fine and it ran without any errors overnight.

I've been trying to get to the bottom of this for 6 months (very frustrating as my hardware is much more than I need to play back SD). Any other thoughts?

I installed the latest catalist driver (8.2) and I can start MP now. But something is still going on. If I start or stop recording or MyTV, this window pops up:

And if I want to chance a channel this window pops up:

So, after 2 weeks of installing and deinstalling Window platforms I found out, MCE and MP doesn't want to work with my mobo. No real solid solution is found on google or the Asus forum.

What is the best thing to do? Buying an other mobo, or buying an other videocard? I read about the 8600GT, is MP or MCE working on my mobo with this card?

(sorry about the big image files..)

I have the same MB as you and it works fine (except for the annoying stutter which is not MP's fault, as it stutters with GBPVR as well). I have a dual boot system with XP Pro SP2 and Vista Ultimate 32. Both play back fine. Did you disable all Media Center services?

    I would try the following:
    Delete all MCE services
    Stop MP's TVService
Delete the database file (better yet, rename it)
    Start config from scratch

At one point I was getting a similar error (the "busy" error) and I followed these steps and it's been working since.

i have the M2A-VM HDMI aswell running component out (not composit!). No stutters or anything. However, my sound dissapears in MP (windows sound is still there) and i have to reeinstall sound drivers with my current svn (17500). Using VISTA 32 ultimate and latest drivers for everything (ie catalyst etc)

sintei, what decoder are you using? Are you watching any SD content, or pure HD? From my limited tests, HD does not stutter but SD always does, no matter what I try. As mentioned above, with EVR it's not really a stutter, but more of a "shaking" or "vibrating" for a few seconds every few minutes.
