I stick to VMR9 exclusive mode (btw absolutely no tearing with it)

This means you will not get the AVIVO features at all - since Vista requires EVR to allow DXVA with GFX. So I would recommend running with EVR.

Cheers!

I don´t know. It looks like Avivo active with VRM9 exclusive also. The deinterlacing has the same good quality as I´ve seen with XP (VRM9 exclusive, Cyberlink mit DXVA, no postprocess; under Vista VRM9 exclusive, ATi mpg2-encoder). The Avivo settings function also (color/brightness settings etc) I will play with deinterlacing on/off with Avivo to verify this and edit this post later.

    Edit1:
    I´ve read here: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa965263.aspx
that DXVA 1.0 is supported through VMR9 and VMR7 in Vista. You need EVR only if you want to benefit from Vista's DXVA 2.0. So I guess you are not right and I stick to VMR9 because it works for me very well against tearing.

    Edit2:
I tried EVR. No visible improvement for DVD or TV with my x1250. Movies freeze at fast FWD/REV (I don't see whrere I am, time runs correctly). This is annoying. So VRM9 is the choice for me.

Well good information, it seems that DXVA2 supports DXVA1 APIs. Sorry for being wrong about this.

I'm just curious to what problems you have when running EVR?
In my case I need to have Aero enabled to avoid tearing with EVR. Otherwise everything is working flawlessly (inlcuding h.264 decoding with FTA HDTV DVB-T).

    Cheers

I just tried 8.1 on my ATI Xpress1250 onboard my mobo, with MP skin Monochrome, but mo help with the filmstrip view.. So back to Project Mahem, which is also a nice skin and works quickly

Several people have UL-ed the files you need to replace :) (Incl. me)

It is quite easy - if you link me the skin, I'll "fix" it for you in the morning.

I posted some time ago about this problem. I found a fix that worked for me that was installing some 3rd party ati alternative driver (cant tell you right now what it was as im at work) but it did the trick for me and mp worked without any issues with reflections however yesterday i was playing with drivers to resolve another issue i was having and the issue has returned. Ill be backdating some drivers over the weekend to get mp back to its stable state (hopefully!) :)
