No. MediaPortal does not support QAM tunning.

I would like to try OTA and media-portal.
I have a Dvico FusionHDTV 5 USB tuner card and I would appreciate if any one can give me the options that I should select while installing or configuring the MediaPortal. I also have the cyberlink powerDVD and AC3 filters if that helps.

My experience with the Fusion 5 USB tuner has been poor with Media Portal. The best results with my setup are using the Dvico Zulu DXGA BDA video decoder and the Dvico AC3 audio decoder. The tuner is recognized; however, I can never get the audio/video to stay in sync. Furthermore, I am never able to change channels without MP freezing up and crashing even with timeshifting turned off. I tested yesterday's SVN build and have seen no improvements. If you do not feel like contributing to the ATSC tests with this tuner, I would suggest using GBPVR to record and playback HD OTA content. That is what I am currently doing until MP / ATSC tuner issues are resolved.

    VBOX install steps?

Hey everyone, my VBOX Cats Eye 150 just arrived today from PCAlchemy, I'm pretty excited. Anyway, I'm using the latest MediaPortal release RC4 and was looking for advice from people that have already succesfully installed this card. It came with a CD with drivers, but I seem to remember someone mentioning to use the lates drivers from VBOX's website? I assume you install the card first and then the drivers, or vice versa?

    Thanks in advance...Randy

There are 2 ways to install your card and drivers:

    1. Install the card. You will get 2 unknown devices. Windows will piss and moan, cancel out of all of that.

    2. Download and extract the latest Vbox Drivers from their website, www.vboxcomm.com .

    3. Extract the drivers to your harddrive.

    4. Go in to your device manager, find the uknown devices. Right click on one and select "Update Driver". Point the wizard to your extracted folder. Do this 2x, once for each device.

Alternatively, you can install the card after you've extracted the drivers and just point windows to the driver folder when it whines about New Hardware being detected.

    TO use it in MP:

Launch C:program Files\Team Mediaportal\MediaPortal\configuration.exe. Head down to TV and add you capture card. Autotune it. Try it out. Let us know how you fare.

Thanks C64, I've benn busy, hope to try setting it all up tonight, need to pull the HTPC out of my AV rack. I know this is one of the favored ATSC cards to use with MP, so I'm anxious to see the results...Randy

Well, everything is hooked up to my new HTPC I built recently. It seems to be working SOMETIMES. I unchecked the EPG option discussed earlier in this thread in the setup. I've had a few occasions where it totally locks everything, and my only option is to hard power off/on the pc. There is one station that is fairly week for a signal, and it seems when MediaPortal has difficulty recognizing the station it just locks up.

Also, the TV guide is not showing any information. It also seems to take like 5+ seconds to change channels...

There appear to be lots of tabs/options in the Setup utility for the TV card, if there is anything else I can check let me know. Do I use NVIDIA since I have a 6600GT, for some of those options?
    Thanks, Randy

Sirquack, I'd be more than happy to help you, it might be easier if you dropped by the IRC chat (See the Chat with us live" link at the top of page.

Iin the meantime, some of this issues you are seeing are known issues.

The weak tuning issue is not as bad on later SVN builds, especially if you are using the nV Video Decoder and teh FFDshow Audio or mpeg/ac3/dd..Decoder in conjunc tion.

Your Guide data does not get updated from the ATSC stream. A plugin will be rleased shortly that makes using zap2it very easy for this. You set it once and forget. You should head over to http://labs.zap2it.com/ztvws/ztvws_login/1,1059,TMS01-1,00.html and set yourself up an account and configure it.

Good luck, Talk to you soon...
