I also asked this in the Newcomers forum, but maybe I should have done it here:
Does it also work with external players ?
(Sorry if this a dumb question).

I use MP 1.1 with this included and it works 99% of the time for me but on some files it changes to the wrong frequency for example changes to 24p even though the framerate clearly is 25p.

I have the easiest of solution (atleast it sounds easy for me who dont know shit about programming)

Make a choice in my movies database that allows you to make a certain choice of frequency for a certain file!

Some badly encoded stuff probably make the sensor in this plugin (refreshrate changer) chose the wrong one... with an option to make a choice of framerate for each file it would all be solved.

Another solution is a remote button to change frequency... (allready available out there?)

Can anyone confirm that the refreshrate changer does work if you playback AVI/MKV etc. from optical media? For me it does not. It switches the refreshrate correctly if I playback videos from HDD, network drives, and normal Video-DVDs.

But not any video files from DVD! :(

It doesn't seems to work with latest Nvidia whql driver: 195.62

The log says it change the refreshrate succesfully, but the refreshrate does not change.

Lot of late Nvidia driver releases do contain a bug that affects the new API in Windows 7. Nothing we can do on MP side.

In Mantis it is mentioned that the refreshrate works if you use an Nvidia Drivier earlier than 190.62.
    See:
0002401: internal refresh rate change is not working under windows 7 - MediaPortal Bugtracker

Unfortunately now the refresh-rate gets changed correctly in W7, but playback got a significant stutter @ 24Hz.

Any ideas how this can be overcome?

    Cheers,

    GOOD NEWS!!!! :D :D
Newest MediaPortal SVN is out (30-11-2009). IT fixes the mediaportal issue with WIN7 x64 refreshrate not changing. The stutter seems to be gone as well, reported by other user on SVN forum.
I read in the bug-report that you need the latest NVidia Beta to fix the 24Hz and 60Hz bug from NVidia side. (it was not working at those frequencies).

Maybe other users can confirm this has been fixed. :)

Sorry but I have still choppy playback after change to 24p in W7-32bit with newest NVIDIA driver.

Already reported in the SVN Thread.

    Cheers

Mine seems to be fine with the latest SVN and the 195.55_desktop_win7_winvista_64bit_english drivers for my Windows 7 x64 build.
The refresh rate is switching great to 24hz, no longer 25hz, and as yet I have not noticed any stutter.
I reported this in the SNV build section and I will continue to monitor and report.
