    Ignore my previous post.

I've either fixed it by installing Moving Pictures RC, or by down grading my ATI drivers - not sure which/why either of those has fixed it!!

I can't manage to find out what refreshrates I should enter for my TV. It's a Samsung LE32R81B. This is the page from the manual regarding display modes, but I can't get much sense from it.

Maybe someone can tell me by looking at this what settings I should enter?

Hi, sorry for the late reply. I notice the display is old and resloution isnt optimal, but it is as it is.
I think this is your best setting:

    Resolution to be used: 1024x768
Supported refreshrates are: 60, 70, 72, 75, 85 hz *(~vertical frequency:how many times the screen is build from top to bottom)

    Set MP like

    29.976/24p material > 72hz (=3xfps)
    25 > 75hz (=3xfps)
    29.9/30 > 60hz (=2xfps)
    50 > 75hz (=1,5xfps)

Be sure to test the refreshrated in windows itself before using it in MP.
This is asuming you connect your TV using Dsub and not with HDMI/DVI. With using HDMI/DVI I think you are less flexible judging from the list.

You can also try setting up ReClock. This will probably help.

The resolution I use is 1280x720, connected through HDMI. Does that change things dramatically?
I'm not familiar with ReClock, I'll look into it.

Hmmm... did you notice the resolution you are using is not even in the list?

If 1280x720 is working, try all the refreshrates I mentioned inside windows. If its not a supported refreshrate you are trying, windows will revert back to previous setting if you cant press yes within 15 seconds. So, I guess you just have to use the trial-and-error method.

    good luck

For the first time I got the automatic refresh rate changer to work! I have before RC1.1 tried it on several OS and different MediPortal versions with negative results with stuttering and non smooth playback at some refresh rates. This time I have a nice flow without dropped frames and smooth playback for all media I have tried so far. I have however one problem, the refresh rate changes sometimes from 50 Hz to 50 Hz when zapping between channels or from live tv to a recording. Is this something that other have seen as well? I can so far not see if it happens with random channels or not. I'm using Win7 64, Mediaportal 1.1 RC, Nvidia 8600.

    I have found a bug ( I think )

Mediaportal starts on my screen @ 1280*720*50hz. When I play a mkv (Moving Pictures or TV Series), the refresh rate changes to 1920*1080*23,976hz and the movie plays fine. I use 12noon display changer for this.

When I stop the movie, the refresh rate will change back to 1280*720*50hz. But I cannot see anything, black screen! The only way to get my screen back, is to press the HOME button.

I didn't have this issue before with MP 1.02.

    Any suggestions?

    :D

I don't think MP supports changing resolution while running. Only refreshrate changing is supported.

edited my post with the info, that I use 12noon display changer.

as Esas mentions. Resolution changing is not recommended. (It is written in the first post) It is likely causing your issue.
Set default resolution to 1920x1080. See if that helps. Start MP in 1080 and do not go back to 720 after playback.

You can easilly test if this is the issue, by unticking 'use default refreshrate'. After playback it should stick to 1920x1080@24hz and you should see MP than.

    Good luck

I never had this issue before in 1.02. So for me it is strange that it doesn't work anymore in rc1.

So, if it worked before, it should work now also.

I always switch back to 1280*720, because when I enter my desktop, I can read it! 1920*1080 is too small.

I don't think MP supports changing resolution while running. Only refreshrate changing is supported.

What you are saying works, but it is not a solution! I can choose a default refresh rate, with the same resolution, and Mediaportal stays visible!

But like I said in previous post, it worked in 1.02. So somewhere on the way it got broken. And if it is broken, it can be fixed!

Oh yeah, I didn't find anything in the opening post, that stated, that changing resolutions is a problem! Where did u get that info from?
