Where is the users manual?

I am fairly new to MP and am getting a bit frustrated about how much time I spend looking for answers and not finding them. Any help would be appreciated.

I am trying to install Backup Settings. I used the MediaPortal Extension Installer (MPEI). Before doing that I noticed your instructions stated "make sure you read the manual". Since this was not a zipped file, I could not open anything to read a manual. I have not found it on the forum and the MPEI never gave me the option to read a manual. Have I missed something obvious?

At this point I am not sure if BS is installed or not. It shows up in MP Config/Plugins/ under MPInstaller/Automation. Am I done? What do I do next? How does this back up my configuration?

Go to Mediaportal Config, click in plugins (second line from bottom) and scroll down until you find the Backup Settings icon. Right click in it, and select "configuration".
Then you only have to choose the destination of backup and press "export".

Well, I think the above is not correct.
You´ll find Backup settings in TVServer Config under Plugins. There you have to activate it, after that it is displayed under Plugins. Now you double-click it, define the backup location and then start the backup.

Is there a third option? :)

In TV Server Config, it does not show up in the Plug-ins section.

It does show-up in the MP Config, under the plug-in section on the second tab called MPInstaller, but right clicking does not result in a configuration option. When I try to Install, or Uninstall it gives an error "Invalid Package".

    Any ideas?

[Update - I decided BS probably needed to be reinstalled so I unistalled it then reinstalled it using the MP Extension Installer. All is good now with the plug-in configuration being in TV-Server as suggested by Catavolt. One thing, though. In reading the back up log, it gave a warning that the TV Record folder was not backed up because it did not begin with a drive - it is a network location as follows ... \\Ashendens-mc-02\f\Recorded TV. Someting wrong with this??]

    Mashenden,
    I guess the message was
Recording Drive does not start with a drive letter and is skipped for disk space checking.
You have not to worry about that as it only says that the disk space checking had to be skipped for network drives.

What am I doing wrong ?
I tried to install the plugin (in Mediaportal 1.1.0 beta), was told that Mediaportal Program Folder (Base) "is not defined", referred to the MP folder and the .exe, clicked Install, Exit and Finish. Then I opened Mediaportal Configuration and under Plugins I found BackupSettingMP. But when I choose Configuration I get an error: "Could not open plugins\process\BackupSettingsMP.exe".
Funny thing is that when I go to the plugins folder of MP the BackupSettingsMP.exe IS definitely there.

    Rijnton,
    1) please post me the path where your Media Portal plugins and your MediaPortal program are installed.
    2) Please unzip the attached file and overwrite your "plugins\process\BackupSettingsMP.dll" file with the one in the zip file.
Try to start again the MP configuration and let me know if it worked. Do you have to manually select the MediaPortal folder?

Thanks huha for your reply. Meanwhile I got it working (without needing the attached file).
The first time I used the Mediaportal Extension Installer (under Start>Programs>Team Mediaportal>Mediaportal and clicked Download and Install. I think something went wrong with that procedure.
Meanwhile I deleted all the files and folders installed by BackupSettingsMP (uninstalling from Mediaportal Extension Installer didn't delete any ?!) and installed again, using the installer from the zip package and now it does work.
Btw, I had to manually choose the path to Mediaportal.exe and the path to Mediaportal is:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\Mediaportal

Another question, just to be sure ( I didn't see this mentioned in the usage instructions).
I assume that when I install a clean new MP version and want to import the saved settings, I have to install BackupSettingsMP again first in the new version ?

    Yes, that's right.
