Maybe this can solve some questions.

As for MP crashes, maybe you have installed the latest 3dtv.at player (1.9.x) which is not supported. The last supported is 1.8.1.
The reason is that 3dtv.at do not share their latest source code definitions required ...

I've been reading the last few pages and noticed that this plugin doesn't work with DXVA?
I also had no success in using the ATI codecs.

Starting plugin works in mediaportal with pressing '3' after that, every settings gets resetted to monoscopic input source.

I was hoping that this plugin would be able to render the mediaportal menu stereoscopic and translates monoscopic srt files into 3d SBS subtitles.

    Well, it does.
Since you always want SBS, go to the plugin settings from the MP Settings application, and select:
    General -> Update subtitles
    General -> Show stereoscopic menu
Profiles -> Default -> Source format -> Default = SBS
Profiles -> Default -> Output format -> Default = SBS

Now, each time you start 3d mode in MP, the SBS settings will apply.
I am experiencing issues with the stereoscopic menu, so do not expect it to be perfect just yet. I've also seen that the mp3d overlays do not work for the Titan skin. I'm working on that.

I already did exactly what you said :) I even made a profile for it.
However, pressing 3 while playing a movie gives the topmenu, but left and right arrow keys don't work.
Also, when entering menu with F9, each settings I made is defaulted to monoscopic input source again.
    Translating subtitles gives no result.
Basically nothing works after pressing '3'

Do you have the 3dtv.at software installed? version 1.8.1 max. The version is displayed in the Configuration screen of the plugin in the MP Settings application.

You can always uninstall/reinstall the filter and the plugin ...

Yes, I installed the stereoscopic player.
The plugin show version number 1.8.1 at the bottom of config screen.
Do you think reinstalling would help? I mean, I just followed the install notes exactly as described. After not working I went experimenting with other video codecs. I read that ATI codec might help, but not with me.

Yeah, maybe you messed around with the codecs. Check that your video works without 3d enabled. Check that you dont have any left overs in the post-processing filters section in the MP configuration application -> Videos.

Check also that your preferred video codec does not have dxva enabled (via MP configuration if you have the beta MP installed)
Also, I think I remember I had one codec which would not work, but I forget which one. Try changing the codec to sth else.

I started messing *after* it didn't work.
Videos play fine with or without your plugin, the menu just doesn't work. Also left and right arrow keys.

DXVA is really preferred, but I think I also tried that. I tried ffdshow video codec (not DXVA codec) which should work.
But I also shall try PDVD12 without DXVA enabled to see if it works.
*IF* it works, nice to see something happening. It will also mean that I uninstall the plugin because I have a low spec HTPC with already too much CPU demand which I have to spread in time (if possible!)
Disabeling DXVA for *every* h.264 video is just too demanding and not acceptable for me. I would consider it if it only was for rendering 3D menu's.

    Thanks for your help!

    So, your situation is:
You want DXVA. DXVA is not supported. Cant do anything for that.
You want 3d subtitles and menus without 3D processing. This is not supported. I'll consider supporting this.

Out of curiosity, can you play a video in 3dtv.at player with DXVA?

    Too bad

Me like! Me like! And I think a lot more people!
People tend to download a SBS or OU 3D movie, and play it with MediaPortal like me.
In a perfect world, your TV gets a miracle message that it should switch to 3d viewing automatically.
You can get that funcionality manually with IRSS which let you map special remote keys on your (MCE) remote and blast them to your TV.
I think this will also be supported with the CEC-remote plugin in the future which is much more elegant because of several technical and aesthetic reasons
    Ontopic again:
You use TV remote to tell the tv to go into 3D SBS.
After this, everything plays fine (after putting glasses on ofcourse ;))
However, every mediaportal overlay is chopped in two pieces and projected onto each other (either SBS or OU).
Also a 2D srt subtitle is useless because of this behaviour.
I now found 3dsubtitler to let me convert the 2d SRT into 3D sup before I watch the movie. But it would be great if this could be automated since the settings seems to work fine for every SBS movie.
For OU movies you could use another profile.
You want 3d subttitles and menus and video without DXVA. This is supported.
So I don't need to test it anymore, I can't use this plugin. DXVA is a must for me.

Out of curiosity, can you play a video in 3dtv.at player with DXVA?
I tested it yesterday, but it seemed that it didn't use DXVA as well. Unusable for me.
CPU at 60-70% for video playback is not good.
I also was not able to get srt subtitles to work
