    Can I use this plugin with MediaPortal 1.3 Beta to watch a 3D Blu-ray? (a real 3D Blu-ray, NOT (!) a MKV file!)
Sorry, this is not possible. MediaPortal needs a modified video renderer to be able to handle the frame packing that is used by 3D blu-ray:s. I'm only aware of three applications for Windows that can handle it: CyberLink PowerDVD, Arcsoft TotalMedia Theatre and Corel WinDVD.

Maybe this can solve some questions.

As for MP crashes, maybe you have installed the latest 3dtv.at player (1.9.x) which is not supported. The last supported is 1.8.1.
The reason is that 3dtv.at do not share their latest source code definitions required ...
Where can I find Stereoscopic Player 1.8.1? I can only see version 1.9.6 for download at 3dtv.at :(

Maybe Softoxin is a good place to download from?

    I've got some other questions.
I have a SBS video and .srt subtitles. I want to display the SBS video unchanged but the subtitles in SBS mode. Is this possible? If I select SBS as output mode the subtitles are correctly doubled in SBS mode but the video is also doubled which results in Side-by-Side-by-Side-by-Side

Did you test your plugin with MediaPortal 1.3.0 Beta and Titan?

They obviously stopped offering the binary on the official site. I am not sure if software download sites still offer it. I'll see what I can do about this.

Yes I have. The overlays do not work. I am planning a new release to remedy these issues by dropping custom overlays and hooking directly into MP in-video context menu.
EDIT: If you're always watching SBS videos in SBS TV, set SBS to default for both source and output format in the plugin settings. This is what I've done.

As for the 3dtv.at compatibility, I am seeking alternative filters since they refuse to cooperate. Anyone has any ideas/suggestions?

    Re: [Beta - Update 2011/04/30] MP3D - Render 3D videos via MediaPortal!

    Hey,

    how can i display a SBS-Video as a 2D-Output correctly?

I tied Source Format "Side by Side, Left first" and Output Format "Monoscopic, Left first"

But the video is displayed in a worng aspect ratio. When i siwtch trough the different AR by pressing "S" (Letterbox, Super Stretch, Original, Zoom, ...) i don't get the correct aspect ratio. What do i have to change?

    Thanks a lot :)

I have the same problem, i tried with and without letterbox detection but its always 16:9 in stretched and not 21:9

Can you post a screenshot and the settings? source, output format, detect letterbox, stretch mode? Did you try an other video?

OK, so I would expect a screenshot of SBS->SBS + Letterbox detection + AR: Stretched.
If there are no black bars, then it works as expected.

To avoid letterbox, you either stretch horizontally and things get a little "taller & thinner" or you zoom and you loose some of the left and right parts of the movie.
You can not do the latter in 3D because then left + right images will not be the same and the whole 3d is ruined.
(there could be some intelligence there in combination with parallax but I could not make it work :( )

    Off-question:
People, I am researching ways to avoid the 3dtv.at filter because of their lack of cooperation (current release is not working).
Anyone has any ideas/suggestions on other filters/techniques? I was also researching using an Avisynth script but I am not sure how this would be integrated with MP1. (For MP2 and XAML things might be a little easier ... I am also researching)

Correct answer to that one (for MP1 and MP2) is:

    • 3rd party source filters should be able to provide correct output
    • libbluray should be modified to support 3D
    • 3rd party Video decoders should be modified to supporting 3D formats
    • Video renderer (MP1 and MP2) should be modified to support 3D formats
    • Skin Engine (MP1 and MP2) should be modified to support rendering the UI in 3D mode
    :)

    @tourettes
I was talking from a plugin's point of view. You are talking from MP core's point of view.
Are you suggesting abandoning 3d support via a plugin and making it built-in (MP1, MP2)? (I'm very interested in this approach.)
