Please bear with me.. I do not know what I have done exactly but at some point I had many problems with MP 1.3.0 Alpha in Windows 8.. there I did change something that caused the fonts to get very big and ugly using the standard default skin.. to start all over I did uninstall everything, including the databases, folders (the deepest uninstall available), reinstalled MP123 stable version, and also installed Black Glass Nova HD using MPEI.. but still the fonts are Big and ugly. I have looked everywhere, but cant find the place where I can change the font zize, (and OSD panel sizes).

So I have MP1.2.3 Stable version (the standard download)
Black Glass Nova HD
TV and GFX set to 1080i @25Hz (GFX ATI6570)

Also with the default skin the fonts are big and ugly

Windows format is set at 150% for readability, this should not be the problem, because also with format 100% the font size of MP is still big and ugly.. beside this, it has been working OK in the past with these settings, looking all nice and clean.

What can I do to get it looking normal again?

Just set the default font size back to 100% and clear the Mediaportal cache folder. See here: http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_MEDIAPORTAL_1/20_Reference/Graphics/ReCaching

I will look into this tonight when I get back home... never thought about the cache, I remember it was standard practice to clear the cache after installing a new skin a few years ago.

problem solved!

And I also know now what caused it..

When I first started MP after the clean install, windows appearance was set to 150%, which caused the skin to load and Cache 150% bigger fonts then normal (which is not really required for a skin that is already dimensioned for watching TV from sofa distance).

So I cleared the cache (deleted the complete skin cache file), restarted MP and again the ugly big fonts were there (wtf!).. and then the eureka moment!

Cleared the cache again, and set the windows appearance to 100%.. started MP, and now everything looks nice, right fonts sizes cached... set windows appearance back to 150%.. start MP.. and voila, still the correct fonts are used from the cache!..pfff.

I hope this may help others who are strugling with font sizes
