have you already installed the right hdstarter? I don't know which post it is, but there must be one, in which a download is available with this escape-fix as far as I can remember. Please scroll back to that posting. It must be around #725

AW: Blu-Ray / HD-DVD Player with PowerDVD (a working solution)

Just one question: Is the Installation guide from post #1 still valid? Or do I have to read all the 78 pages to get a working solution?

Not yet installed the plug in.
I am doing some stability testing with the PowerDVD software on its own.
Most BR disks lock up once on average. Brand new BR disk out of the box so no scratches.
On the lock ups I have to end the process and restart PowerDVD software, then manually find my place in the movie. Plays fine 2nd time around.
Anyone else have stability PowerDVD freeze issues. I download the latest PowerDVD patches when I installed software a week ago. Is BR fragile compared to regular DVD e.g. very dust/vibration sensitive? Regular DVDs play fine when played in the same drive.
I will try to some debugging if the issue persists.

    if you mean, that you get artecafacts in the picture with some of the newer BRs, that's got "nothing" to do with powerDVD in special.
    In this case it helps to put in an "older" BR-disc (older version) & afterwards the newer ones work fine again. I had the same problems with winDVD and home theatre...
    maybe there is a new patch out now, which helps - haven't checked for a while...

    installation is the same way as described in the first post. But I would recommend to read the thread starting from #700 on, because there are some files hosted which substitute the initial files from the first post. See post #730 for downloading the bunch of files.

    I would really appreciate if we could get a new, updated howto for this valuable plugin. It is a waste of time to work through all these pages. I am not shy to participate in re-writing it, actually.

    Obviously, the installation-process is not too complicated. However, lots can still go wrong, if beginners like me use it.

    Let me list my experience:

    System is a (nice) Moneaual MediaPC with Win7 32bit.
    Mediaportal is 1.1.0 final

    I followed the principal advice of post #1, replaced those files with the most actual ones. (Aka post #720+)

    Some observations: As all directories in program files need adminstrative rights, it was not possible to write the HD_starter.ini, compiled in the GUI-HDStarter.ini directly into the plugins/Windows-dir. I copied it there manually, after saving it to a directory, where the normal user had write-access to.

    See also the first picture showing content of the plugins/Windows-directory.
    I executed the HD_Start.exe manually, and it opened PowerDVD, if PowerDVD was closed, MP opened as intended. So, the plugin works. But out of MP, it doesn't. See pic #2

    This is the content of HD_Starter.ini:

    [MediaPortal]
    path="C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MediaPortal.exe /FULLSCREEN"
    exeName="MediaPortal.exe"

    [PlayerDVD]
    path="C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD8\PowerDVD8.exe /FULLSCREEN"
    exeName="PowerDVD8.exe"

    [IR]
    irModel="hauppauge"
    useHotKeys=

    [Graphiccard]
    cardType=ati

    [nVidia]
    clone=
    standard=

    [ati]
    mode24="Y"

    [HideMouse]
    path="C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\plugins\Windows\MausRaus.exe"

    Obviously, I missed an additional step.

    Regards,

    Quax

    just got a "upgrade" question ...

    my neighbour runs 1.0.2 with this plugin ...
    runs smooth - PowerDVD8 plus updates ...

    but - the BluRay "Clash of the titans" always stutter a bit ...

    i installed PowerDVD 10 in my machine and there - the movie runs smooth ..

    QUESTION:

    if i update PowerDVD - do i have to change settings of the Starter-Plugin?
    or will everything be "connected" as it was between HD_Starter_hotkey and the earlier PowerDVD version?

    have a look into the config-section. Obviously your path-entry of hdstarter-exe is wrong.

    polarie
    as long as PDVD 10 has the same (identical) path and exe-name nothing must be changed. If there is a difference between your former PDVD-version and PDVD 10 you must change the path and/or the exe-name depending on what has been changed.

    eagle: Sorry, if the question is stupid. You mean, in the plugin-config, avail via the mediaportal-config/plugins section? I copied the config according to post #1 and checked for the paths. N.B.: At least under Win7, the skins-directory has moved, but I checked that the skins-path was also adapted.

    Or do you mean a different config?
