Bluray Rip On MP (1 Viewer)

Hi
I am running the latest stable version of MP, i have a rip of bluray, basically a BDMV folder which i want to watch through MP.

how can i do this?.

Simply, Using Video Library navigate to the BDMV/STREAM folder and play the .m2ts file, not sure if moving pictures can pick up these rip's and play them straight off, I re-encode my blu-ray's to smaller .mkv files

I agree with Jismo01, MKV is a better option for future proofing, you can have multiple audio tracks, subtitles etc.
There are loads of free ways of doing this, (if you are already ripping full discs to your HD i am assuming you have a way past the disc encryption, anyDVD etc) MakeMKV is a simple way of converting BD to MKV, but a bit limited, try it out to see if it works for you.

I, like a lot of people convert BD to h.264 MKV's. I use RipBot264 but there are other ways, google it for guides i did have one but can't find it right now. This is not a simple 'one click' operation and will take a long time to do (depending on how fast your pc is) but the end result is worth it IMO. Smaller files with just the main movie with limited loss of quality, although you will have to play with the settings to get a quality level you are happy with.

yes mkv is an excellent option, but i want to see how good media portal handles bluray. thats the reason i want to play bluray rip. i actually got it of a friend as i personally dont have a bluray rom drive

MP won't play blu-ray, at best you have to navigate to the ripped m2ts file in the BDMV/STREAM folder as I said. You can launch PDVD 7 or 8 from within MP to play ISO's or discs. search the forums for these methods (HDstarter(PDVD method) & Arcsoft) both I think use the Multishortcut plugin and a script to minimise MP, open and Play in PDVD or arcsoft and then close and maximise on completion.

Ripped blu-rays take up a lot of disc space; over 25gb usually, with re-encoding it you can easily get a 1080p movie down to DVD9 size (8GB). I suggest using MeGUI as it is very customisable in terms of advanced settings, but also look at BDClown which acts as a gui for all the programs you need for conversion like eac3to and tsmuxer etc. Afterdawn forums and Doom9 forums are the place to look for tutorials on how to do this.

EDIT: you need to make sure you add the .m2ts file extension to the settings for video player in MPconfig/Video
