Has anyone else in NZ noticed TV3 has started skipping frames yesterday?

All the other channels are fine (including TV3+1) but yesterday TV3 started noticably skipping frames/stuttering.

Turns out that ticking the box "prefer AC3" fixes the problem but I'm curious to know if anyone knows what has changed in the last two days.

Me too. Started Thursday. It is really annoying... I'm off to click the "prefer AC3" box in the TV Client Audio settings...

Edit.. Woohoo. That's fixed it. Must be struggling to sync the audio with the video somehow. Thanks heaps for the solution!!

You're right of course - many certainly look like they should be apostrophes. This is a track that I've been down already. ;)
If you do a more thorough search you'll find that they're definitely not all like that. If you can find the pattern then I'm sure nzkiwi or sjb would throw the characters back in...

I have been pulling my hair out the last three days thinking my HTPC was dying. I even replaced the system HD this morning as it seemed a bit suspect. Unfortunately I aren't able to really use the "Prefer AC3" option. Whenever I switch channel from an AC3 channel (TV3) to a non AC3 channel The video freezes up and I need to Stop live TV and restart it. This happen on both my HTPC's and I have never been able to get it to work properly. Any ideas?

I've been using "Prefer AC3" for at least a year since TV3 had some sort of lipsync issues with the AAC+ audio. Are you using MP 1.1.1?

Fixed my AC3 issues after fiddling with my codecs a bit. All good now.

And you are basing this on what?

I'd rather not take up any more of this thread with this discussion but i can assure you that the hd3200 on win7 with the cyberlink powerdvd 8 codec (H/W acceleration enabled in codec settings) and latest ati driver can comfortably (less than 30% CPU) do 1080i, vector adaptive at 1920 x 1080 50HZ without any dropped frames, stutter etc. I fail to see what more you would need when displaying HD DVBT in NZ. So it is very possible and if i can manage it without any ado i'm sure many others can too.

EDIT: It's working now - had the wrong LNB frequency initially, and also had to do a full channel scan with the right LNB setting - it didn't seem to work if I entered the frequency in manually.

I'm a new Mediaportal user (previously used MythTV), and am having problems configuring Freeview.

It's a Windows 7 system, with a Hauppauge WinTV Nova-S-Plus card. When I try and add channels in TV-server (frequency 1428300, symbol rate 22500, Optus D1 satellite, LNB set up properly), I only get 9 scrambled Sky channels, and not the free to air ones.

I've been searching, and have only found one other reference to the problem, from an old non-tvserver version a couple of years ago. Their posted solution was
I finally got it working. In the config setup I found that, for some inexplicable reason, in the GROUPS setting there was no "Unscrambled". So I created one and rescanned, all channels came up. That, it would seem, was the only problem
but I can't find anywhere to do this?

Thanks in advance for any help, this is driving me nuts!
