My trusty XMLTVNZ program seems to no longer give me an epg. I have done the above trying to use the tvguide.xml in MP directly via the XmlTV plugin but no programs are imported. The file itself has plenty in it when checked.

Raven's XMLTVNZ appears to no longer be able to contact the website http://tvlistings.co.nz to populate the tvguide.xml.

I too changed to EPG Collector 3.0 and it's works great by populating a tvguide.xml file and then getting the XmlTV plugin to read it.
[EPG] EPG Collector (MHEG5 EPG Data Grabber) setup, instructions

One thing I did have to do was to re-select and re-save the channel mappings within the XmlTV plugin before it would import successfully from the file. It maybe because the tvguide.xml generates is a slightly different layout.

Hi All
Well I can confirm that was indeed very simple to set up. I suspect I was impatient but the trusty reboot of computer seemed to help. So all working with EPG Collector with no further trouble (at the moment)

Hi All Fellow Kiwi's,

I have had recently issues with MP V 1.1.2.0 and 1.1.1.0 where MP randomly freezes up when either swapping from TV to recordings or swapping between TVNZ and MediaWorks channels - the only way I can get out of Media Portal is to cold boot the PC - Alt F4 would not even kill it off!! The issue then is that if I'm recording something, my mirror disks go flat out for 10 minutes until the desktop appears where I can then kill the "repair" process. So does anyone else have this issue? Is there a way other than a cold boot to kill MP? Also, in V 1.1.1.0, there was a reported memory leak which I thought caused this and was fixed in V 1.1.2.0.

I'm also getting delayed speech, stuttering & blurring during fast motion depending on the channel and channel recording. I have also read a few posts back that the "Prefer AC3" tickbox can help things, especially TV3.

I'm using SAF4 codecs, V 1.1.2.0 and I'm on Vista 32 Home Premium SP2. I have a NOVA 500-T TV Tuner Card.

I have also never re-installed Vista and have had my PC for a couple of years now.

Any help appreciated.

Graham

Can anyone shine some light or experiance on the issues above?

    Hi Graham

Logs are needed to diagnose this problem properly. Two other things too:
    1. Are you using hardware acceleration, and what is CPU usage like while watching TV3?
    2. Can you check what the CPU usage is like when you encounter the freezing and/or stuttering/blurring issues.

    Hi,

Thanks for the fast reply!! The freezing issue is very annoying!!

Which log file names would be useful? Also, are they not wiped after a cold boot?

CPU crusing at 4% on TV3

Also found this forum tonight - check out the last post.

The HE-AAC thing could have been the problem if you were only experiencing the problem on TV 3, however according to the last post here that problem is fixed. Are you still experiencing the stuttering/blurring this evening? If you are, or you were also seeing the issue on TV One and 2 then I think the FFDShow codec is more likely to blame. I can't really comment on the audio issue because I always use AC3. I will say that as much as you might want to "get away" with using a free codec like FFDShow, I'd recommend the Cyberlink or CoreAVC codecs over FFDShow any day unless you really know what you are doing...

Logs are not wiped after reboot. I'm not really certain what the problem is so all logs (both MediaPortal and TV Server) might be needed. I should have said this before, but please delete all your logs (the files, not the folders) then wait until you can reproduce the freezing problem before posting them.

    Hi Again,

Tonight I seemed to have a good picture on TV2, however after about 2 minutes, live TV would stop and go back to the TV Guide - my wife mentioned that this has happened a few times - I have also noticed that often my TV Tuner card is not available and I have to try a couple of times to get past the error - this happens when changing channels - especially TV1, TV2 to TV3 and visa versa.

I have attached 3 log files from tonight where the above happened - no freezing tonight, but I will upload files when it does. Note the TS Writer log and "channel may have moved" error? Also notice weird things in the TV log file, but I'm not technical I'm afraid. Extensive logging is switched on.

    I appreciate your help.

    Cheers

    Graham

    Hi again Graham

About two minutes after you start watching a channel, your stream gets dropped. I can't explain this, but I'm guessing it is something to do with the links between 4TR and MP. Has this only started happening since you've installed MP 1.1.2?

    Hi,

Yeah, it started after installing MP 1.1.2. Having said this, I also reinstalled 4TR after installing 1.1.2 to get the plugin to appear in TV Server, so I'm wondering if I might have missed something or installed something incorrectly in the 4TR install?

I also found a post somewhere which mentioned selecting the IP address rather than "auto" in "streaming server" settings, so I selected the IP address which I have reserved to the server in my router settings. The machine is setup and being used as a single seat though.

Oh, I also unticked the "Stop Live TV when card needed for recording" box in TV Server last night just before going to bed and I did not see the Live TV drop, but I really would like that activated.

Let me know if you need any other information.

    Cheers and Thanks!!

    Graham

    Good morning Graham

I don't use FTR, although I have tried it out a couple of times. As I recall there is a setting in FTR that allows you to prefer timeshifting files rather than streaming. I would try turning that on (sorry I can't give specific instructions). I'd also be posting this issue in the FTR forum and see what response you get. Before you do that, make sure you weren't meant to upgrade FTR for MP 1.1.2 - sometimes an upgrade is required...
